The Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme returns to QUAD in February for 11 screenings of films new to UK screens and themed on the subject of "Love".
Love has provided a penetrating and perpetual source of cinema. Countless Japanese film makers have taken up this universal theme and explored what love means and does to human-beings. From recently released contemporary works to anime and classic masterpieces, the programme features some of the best examples of cinema from ...Japan and will look at how the theme of love has remained an inspiration for the country’s filmmakers as well as how they stretched their imaginations to mirror the society they live in, telling stories with diverse voices, in an enthralling and delightful manner.
Tickets are available to individual screenings at QUAD's regular ticket prices or you can buy a weekend pass to see all eleven films for just £50 (standard), £45 (QUAD members/concessions) or £35 (16 - 25 year olds. ID required).
Find out about all of the films screening on the QUAD website - http://bit.ly/JFTFPatQUAD2019

Yesterday was my first visit to the Quad, what a fabulous cinema!! Wonderfully roomy, comfortable seats with more than enough leg room. Great facilities, everywhere clean & tidy, friendly helpful staff :) I watched "Unrest", special thanks to both the Quad & ME Derbyshire for putting this screening & panel discussion on. The only negative to the Quad isn't their fault but that of Derby City Council & ridiculous parking charges throughout the city. I parked in the nearest car park which is the Assembly Room's, £4.50 for up to 4 hours. It's a shame that patrons aren't able to get at least reduced price parking on production of their ticket.

User

Went to watch journeys end, first time id been in the place. Comfy and spacious, a great experience spoilt only by the fat four eyed heffer behind who couldn't keep her hooves off the seat in front.

User

Visit the quad often on rainy days with the kids, best value screenings (considering other cinemas ridiculous prices) and always show the most desired children’s films around the released dates, can not beat the value for money!!

Recently visited an adult preview and again brilliant comfy seats

Had a flavoured gin and was shocked at the value again so it’s a 5* from me and mine we love it

User

Very good food, was able to sit outside as weather was lovely. We were served by a new girl and it was her first day.. she was very welcoming, helpful and served us with a smile on her face.. altogether a great evening.

User

The quad is ace. Huge comfy cinema seats, loads of legroom and I can eat here as they have a good vegan menu too. Good for children with colouring sheets and lego to play with.

User

My first trip to Quad to watch the Black Prince with speech and discussion, really enjoyed it. Really nice and comfortable seats, nice and friendly staff will be going again. But could do with cheaper parking options parked at assembly rooms which cost £5:20. But great evening out

User

Loved my trip to The Quad yesterday. Great bite to eat in the cafe before the film and then I took my very comfortable seat in "The Box". I enjoyed "Risk"; do try to see it. However, it's the overall experience which is so great; the staff create such a warm ambience and the building creates positive energy.

It's such a privilege to have The Quad in our lovely city.

Love the Quad ... a really nice experience

User

Love going to Quad, there’s always a nice welcoming atmosphere. A good varied selection of films. Comfy seating and the food is good in the cafe too! Highly recommend

User

If you are of a certain age and love the theatre make sure you see 'Nothing like a dame' starring dames Joan Plowright, Eileen Atkins, Maggie Smith and Judy Dench informally sitting round a table reminiscing about their lives and careers. It was wonderful. We laughed out loud.

Sadly there were only 12 people in the audience.

User

I can't recommend The Quad highly enough. The food is good and reasonably priced. The selection of films is great both mainstream and lesser known in a small venue (ideal if you don't want the crowds in the mulitplexs). The writing courses are second to none. There are the writing workshops and days whether it is poetry, horror, fantasy, creative writing for beginners or courses for writers who are looking to publish. Then there are the events such as Partners in Crime and horror script writing as well as the Edge and Sledge Lit days. A great opportunity to meet writers who are newly published or firmly established for book signings and master classes/chats. It has certainly broadened my horizons and introduced my to writers that I have not previously heard of or considered reading. I will continue to support these events as a volunteer or customer. Keep up good work you have certainly put Derby on the map.

User

I always enjoy going to the Quad. Varied choice of films, friendly, professional and welcoming staff and good food.A place I am happy to go to on my own. Also I enjoy the benefits of having QUAD membership. Worth having.

User

Had a great first visit to the Quad this evening, my daughter has visited previously on a school trip but a first tonight for myself & my mum. Very easy to book tickets online this afternoon which we collected on our arrival, friendly and helpful staff, extremely comfy seats and lots of leg room, we will definitely be returning, excellent value for money.

User

Great selection, nice food, cosy friendly environment and stuff.

User

Fantastic Cinema with good facilities and very comfortable seating I will however have to reconsider my 5* rating if after screening A Fistful Of Dollars they don't show For A Few Dollars More and The Good The Bad & The Ugly in the very near future. Quad you have been warned.

User

Awesome venue, great food. Many other “bigger” cinema complex’s could learn a thing or two here....it’s not all about 3hr old sausages and soggy popcorn....

User

Always enjoy going to the Quad The food is delicious and reasonably priced and it's so much more comfortable watching films here. I would definitely recommend
