Quirky Creations Description

Hi! I’m Louise; thanks for taking a look at Quirky Creations.

Me me me!
I’m 29 + 1 and live in a my Dream House (that's a Grey's Anatomy reference, not Barbie. . . ) in the heart of the picturesque Derbyshire countryside. I’m owned by a cat and a dog and am lucky enough to share my life with a man who respects and supports my craft craziness (and the ensuing craftermath this creates! )

I am a Qualified Teacher of English and have worked in several Secondary schools, but I now work part time as a Supply teacher while I build my Quirky online business. My dream is to spend my days in a little craft den, wearing silk pyjamas and consuming coffee intravenously whilst surrounded by yarn, cotton and fabric, with a cat napping on my knee and several Cavalier spaniels frolicking playfully at my feet.

Quirky Creations is born from my love of and obsession with all things craft. I specialise in crochet items, and I adore doing amazing things with string and nails. Most of my items are 'made to order'. This means - you guessed it! – that you can commission me to make a version of something tailored to your colour and size requirements. I'm always up for trying my hand at something new, though, and I’ve recently started creating my own patterns. So, if something tickles your fancy that isn't listed, just get in touch and we can discuss how I can help. I don't bite. : -D

My craft obsession:
I’ll admit it: until 4 years ago I was completely oblivious to the wonderful world of crafting. In hindsight, I can’t believe that I survived without a daily dose of crafty creativity. I was introduced to crochet by a friend-of-a-friend, and I was so clueless about it that I turned up with a knitting loop instead of a crochet hook! However, something in my busy little brain seemed to like it, and I took to it like a magpie to a shiny thing. I even taught crochet to people from 8-80 in a Saturday morning crochet class. It turned my into a bit of a walking crochet encyclopaedia, and I’m now at the stage where I’m even able to write my own patterns based on a rough idea from my bonkers brain.

Another factor that contributed to my love of crafting is that I suffer from chronic pain as a result of hypermobility syndrome. For every few hours that I’m up and about teaching (or generally living my life) I have to spend time resting and recuperating to stop the pain reaching unbearable levels. I used to resent having to ‘have a rest’ like an old invalid, but now I know that I can use that time to be productive and to create something fabulous.

The Quirky Quest:
I’m really not a fan of some of the twee, old fashioned and outdated craft items that people tend to associate with crochet and embroidery. Instead, my aim is to create modern, fashionable, bold and beautiful products that suit your colour scheme, lifestyle and tastes. I pride myself on offering a huge variety of colour and embellishment options in my etsy listings. But, as always, if there’s something you’d like that isn’t shown, just send me a message and I’ll see what I can do.

Read all that? Wow! Treat yo'self. Use discount code: IREADIT : -D
