Raf Coningsby Hive Description

Royal Air Force Coningsby’s mission: 'To develop the future, deliver the present and commemorate the past of the Royal Air Force’s combat air power’, reflects the diverse array of aircraft based here. These aircraft include Typhoon, Tornado GR4 and the wonderfully evocative Spitfires and Lancaster of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and, of course, Typhoon, the Royal Air Force’s most modern and versatile fighter aircraft.

Coningsby and Tattershall are linked by the River Bain, one village running into the other, and though 14 miles from the nearest large town (Boston), are extremely well serviced in the rural countryside of Lincolnshire. A post office, a bank, two estate agents, various shops, takeaways and a garage are all located within Coningsby itself. The historic Tattershall Castle is a prominent feature in Tattershall village, and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight draws visitors from all over the country. Five miles northwest is the picturesque village of Woodhall Spa, with restaurants, golf and the amazing Kinema in the Woods. The market town of Horncastle is seven miles to the north and Lincoln is some twenty four miles west.

RAF Coningsby has a wide range of social and sporting facilities. The Junior Ranks Complex, incorporating the Heroes Bar, Community Support Hub, Livers in Community Centre / Lounge Coffee Shop (complete with wi-fi), Spar shop, Health & Fitness suite, Mess and Cedar Bowl is situated close to the living accommodation. The Health & Fitness Suite is a well-equipped gymnasium with sauna and solarium. Other sporting facilities include the golf club, squash courts, tennis courts, Astro turf football field, large sports field and main station gymnasium. A wide range of sports clubs are run on the unit. A station barber is also found on base; a library and a 24 hour internet suite are located within Force Development Headquarters.

It’s a #throwbackthursday on this 75th anniversary of D-Day to remember the ultimate sacrifice by those who were involved on that day. • This 📸 was captured by @robyn_pf back in 2014 when we had one of our aircraft painted up in the iconic black and white stripes.... • We are forever grateful for those that gave their all for our freedom. We will remember them. . . #remembrance #neverforget #gavetheirall #veterans #heroes #rememberthefallen

RAF HIVE Help for Heroes Bake sale
Show your support for Armed Forces and their families during Armed Forces Week.
... Help for Heroes supports members of the Armed Forces community whose lives have been affected by their service, no matter when they served. There are thousands of Servicemen and women living with complex wounds and injuries – both physical and mental – and are looking to regain their purpose in life. They believe that those who put their lives on the line for us deserve a second chance at life for them and their families.
They are calling all bakers of Britain to host a bake sale during Armed Forces Week 22 – 30 June, or at a time to suit you. Every cake you buy or bake makes a difference, helping us raise money to empower Veterans to reach their potential.
£10
Could pay for an indoor climbing session for a Veteran, to help with mental and physical wellbeing
£20
Could pay for a Veteran to attend a session with a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and develop skills to manage anxiety, depression or stress
£50
Could pay for a music workshop for 16 Veterans, encouraging them to express themselves and learn new skills
£100
Could pay for a 5-day residential recovery programme across a range of activities to improve confidence and self-esteem
£250
Could pay for five Veterans to attend a one-day Coaching Experience Course, helping them develop skills to support others going through change.
They want your Bake for Heroes experience to be an unforgettable one and will work closely with you sharing baking ideas, helpful tips and advice straight to your inbox. If you are a confident baker, you may choose to organise an event in your town centre or at your local village hall. Alternatively, how about organising an afternoon tea at home with friends and family or a ‘bring & buy’ cake sale with work colleagues or classmates.
Sign up for a free fundraising pack today at bakeforheroes.org.uk or call 0300 303 9888
Your support will make a huge difference to the lives of our nations’ brave Servicemen and women. They look forward to hearing from you!
