Here`s why:

Have you noticed that some tutors and tutoring agencies are open to taking on students pretty much all-year round? This is likely because they’re not in demand, or want as many tutees as possible.

I limit myself to 10 tutees at any point in time. This is because quality and results mean everything to me. It takes some serious effort and creativity to turnaround a student`s weakness - and this takes some serious time behind the scenes.

The finest tutors aren`t available for tuition all year round, as they can only manage a limited number of tutees at any given time. I take on the number of students for which I know I can comfortably deliver our best, and then close off.

Experience: How many times have you heard of someone hiring a Maths tutor, and seeing a complete turnaround in their child’s ability? I’m guessing never.

The majority of parents have no clue what makes a good Maths tutor. Because of this, most go about picking a tutor like they`re playing Russian roulette, or shopping for the cheapest possible like they would for ice cubes. Did you know that 79% of all UK tutors work other jobs? That`s right - only 1 out of every 5 tutors in the country are willing to forgo a daytime job to focus fully on their pupil`s tuition.
Transforming a struggling student requires work, and my decision to dedicate myself purely to our tuition pays off for my tutees.

When I’m not in lessons, I’m preparing for upcoming lessons.
I make detailed notes after every lesson. I constantly re-evaluate how each child’s strengths and weaknesses progress. I think about how best to go about teaching a target topic, based on what’s worked and what hasn’t for each child. This is all whilst I keep one eye on their final exams.

I love doing what I do, and that’s the only reason I do this. There are few other professions were you can change the course of somebody’s future as drastically as a Maths tutor. I’m regularly working until 9, 10, 11 o’clock, night after night, brainstorming, and trying to think of ways I can smash the school’s predictions to smithereens. The creative excitement is exhilarating.

Of course, most tutors want their tutees to get the very best grade possible. But I don’t believe most of them dedicate themselves as religiously as I do, and would shrink from the thought of guaranteeing their work.
