... He has already used the RoboSpot system on the recent Mark Knopfler tour but it's always beneficial to get expert tips.
Dan said "We had a fantastic time using the RoboSpot system that we paired with BMFL's from Hawthorn and they really are a game changer.
At one venue the low trim height was causing a problem with traditional followspots shining right in Mark's eyes so the decision was made to bring in a RoboSpot systems and they performed wonderfully."

ROBE lighting organises the last scheduled #TechnicalTraining session of the year for Robe fixtures!
Next week, Tuesday 19th - Thursday 21st we are once again holding our Level 1 and Level 2 courses at our Robe Around The UK office and there are still a few spaces left so book on now to reserve a place for you or your team!
Here is an explanation of the courses.
... The level 1 course costs £55 + VAT (includes lunch and course materials) and is a single day on Tuesday 19th and is aimed at technicians who need to conduct the following tasks.
• Cleaning and maintaining equipment • Prep'ing equipment • Basic trouble shooting • Software updating • Testing equipment
Level 2 costs £95 + VAT (includes lunch and course materials) and is a more advanced course split over two days, Wednesday 20th & Thursday 21st and covers the following aspects
• Advanced Trouble shooting • Repairing fixture faults • Advanced part replacement • Re-calibrating equipment • Working with Robe technical manuals • Q&A session with our expert trainer
Suitable for more experienced technicians who are already confident on the elements covered in the Level 1 course and require more in-depth training.
You can also bring a Robe fixture or two with you that you need some assistance on and we will do our best to look at them during the course.
Each course is a full day of learning from 10am - 5pm so whether you/your team are new to the lighting industry or have been around lights for years, there is still plenty to learn on our courses!

ROBE lighting puts the spotlight on BurnaBoy with #BMFLWashBeam fixtures and a #RoboSpot system at The SSE Arena, Wembley!
Siyan Ltd supplied the fixtures for the sold out show and used 3 #BMFLWashBeam units for their huge output of over 40,000 lumens.
These were paired with the #RoboSpot, Robe's revolutionary follow spot system, a device that allows follow spot operators to remotely control up to 12 fixtures simultaneously for accurate tracking of performers across the stage....
Siyan’s Tom Grant and Paul Smith from design house Ignition Creative Ltd co-designed the lighting for the show and Tom explained why they chose the Robe units by saying "Burnaboy doesn’t like much frontlight so we thought the best way to achieve some focused light on him was to come from the extreme sides and from the back to create some sharp silhouette looks.”
Paul also comments “Using BMFL Washbeams gave us the output we needed and the remote control nature of the RoboSpot system allowed us to rig the units exactly where we wanted. Burnaboy is also an extremely energetic performer onstage and so we needed a system that would be quick enough to keep up with him!”

ROBE lighting adds almost 100 fixtures into Venue Lab's latest entertainment venue, Magazine London!
Located within on the side of the Thames across with stunning views of Canary Wharf, construction for this building took place only 300 days ago and now there are Robe #T1Profile, #Spiider and #Divine160 units inside, lighting up the 3,205 square meters of floor space!
Technical Consultant Simon Jones of SJ-TPM was brought in to coordinate all technical aspects including the ...lighting and knew Robe's LED fixtures would meet the high performance with reduced power consumption goals set out by the project.
Simon stated "I’ve been hands-on with Robe products for several years, they are rock solid and the service from local distributor Robe Around The UK is great, so they were obviously going to be the go-to choice for the Magazine London project”.
For extra creative expertise Simon asked Ben Cash and Dave Amos of Flare Lighting Ltd to come aboard and they advised T1 and Spiider fixtures would perform brilliantly for this new project.
“The T1s offer great brightness, high-quality output, multiple features and are extremely power-efficient. While the Spiiders are an ‘industry standard’ LED wash, they have a very intense brightness, a great variety of colours, as well as being small and light, taking up very little space,” said Simon.
