What would you think if a Dr told you you'd "shattered a nerve"? This is nocebo (opposite of placebo) and frankly utter bullsh*tWhat would you think if a Dr told you you'd "shattered a nerve"? This is nocebo (opposite of placebo) and frankly utter bullsh*t

🦌🦌Less than 2 weeks after being gifted part of a deer spine, we found an entire skeleton on a walk today! We brought the skull/antlers, femur, tibia and cerevical vertebrae home, there were too many bones to carry all of him . . From where it was I'm not sure what caused his death but one things for sure and that's how beautiful his head and antlers are in death as undoubtly they were in life. I'll post more pictures when I've cleaned the bones up a bit. 🦌🦌

Following my post from yesterday I realised that many people might not know what Opioids are or what they do. So I've made this infographic to try to explain them, I've tried to keep it relatively simple but there is much more available information about them on the internet.
If you'd like to decrease your opioid use then please speak to a doctor - it's really important that you come off of them in the right way.
Opioid dependence and addiction is becoming a real problem in the UK, please share this so that more people can know about what they are and what they do!

User

Listening to Jeremy Vine discussing opioid addiction. Truly awful stories from people who were prescribed these painkillers not knowing the consequences and very real risk of dependency and addiction.
Please please please question all medications prescribed to you, know what they are, what they do, how they affect your body and when you should be coming off of them.
Knowledge enables you to make informed choices.

Received this lovely email last night!
It comes from a lady who was really struggling with pain in her shins, it was getting her down and affecting her job as a fitness instructor. I'm so happy that I've been able to help, I'm sure she'll be pushing to improve her 10k time by the next time that I see her!

The biggest misconception with pain and injury is that if something hurts it needs to be scanned. Unless an operation is needed or something nasty is suspected then you really don't need a scan.
Leading pain scientists have discovered that waiting for an MRI and hearing the results will actually lengthen the time that a person takes to recover from pain/injury!

🦌🦌🦌 Deer are magnificent creatures, I love to see them when out on a walk. Thankfully this one didn't die directly at the hands of a human and left behind this wonderful specimen! What a an amazing gift that I was very grateful to receive πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

So it seems that I've picked up a nickname for myself in #corby πŸ˜‚πŸ§™β€β™€οΈ
I hope it's because people come to see me and their pain is magically better rather than me looking like this witch!
Although I do have a black cat and a rather odd looking index finger.
... So, despite the witch nickname, treatment is not scary but you may get magic results!
Happy halloween everyone!

Did you know that it's Back Care awareness week?
Here are osteopath and medical acupuncturist Lee's top tips for caring for your spine:
1) Keep active - The spine is designed to move, so light exercise whenever possible will allow the spine to do its job. Getting up from your desk once every hour is a great first step!
... 2) Stay hydrated - the discs between your vertebrae are made of up to 75% water, so the more hydrated you are the better they can support and absorb forces throughout the spine.
3) Lift sensibly - don't be afraid to pick things up but with heavy awkward objects make sure you bend your knees, brace your back and ask someone to help you if needed.
We only have one spine so it's a good idea to look after it!

A dead leg ☠ and the law of attraction ☯️
Last night whilst playing futsal I got a knee to my right thigh resulting in a dead leg, this is the result this morning. As you can see my body is protecting me by stopping me performing a basic quadriceps stretch. I'm also limping quite heavily and finding stairs difficult.
Earlier in the day yesterday I sought the help of the wonderful Gaynor Myles as I was feeling frustrated and impatient with a couple of situations in my life.... One of the biggest nuggets of guidance from her was to be patient and wait as it will all work out at the time that it's supposed to.
On an emotional level I needed to slow down, be patient and wait.
On a physical level I received an injury that would force me to slow down, be patient and wait.
I attracted the injury and resulting symptoms.
Obviously there is healing for my body to do on a physical level. The pain, inflammation and decreased movement is there to allow my irritated tissues to heal. But will having an understanding of why I may have got the injury in the first place speed up my recovery? Only time will tell!

Who saw 'Tonight - Britain on Painkillers' on ITV last night? If you didn't and suffer with pain then it's worth a watch on catch up.
We meet people who are dependant on strong opioid painkillers all of the time. Many of those people don't feel that the medication is effective and are suffering a whole host of side effects. But they feel that they can't come off of them.
Painkillers are needed for acute pain but they are not the solution to long term pain.
... Is it time that you tried something different?
We can help - leave us a comment or message to find out more.
