About Rowandale Integrated Primary School & Community Playgroup

Rowandale is the only fully integrated primary school in the Moira area and is recognised as such by the Department of Education. Our ethos of integration permeates through everything we do.

Rowandale Integrated Primary School & Community Playgroup Description

Rowandale is the only integrated school in this area. Having two classes for each year helps to enable families who wish to choose integrated education to be able to do so.

Our success has shown that integrated education is very important for families in this area.

In 2004 a small group of families in the Moira area were unable to find a school where their children would learn to be at ease with religious and cultural differences and where parents could become fully involved in the educational process. They resolved to undertake the journey that led to the opening of Rowandale Integrated Primary School in September 2007.

For the first time families in Moira and it's surrounding villages were able to choose integrated education for their children.

Fifteen families made this choice and eighteen children were enrolled in the first year.

Situated in a peaceful rural setting on the edge of the picturesque village of Moira on an extensive 4 acre site, Rowandale is growing steadily in popularity and is gaining a reputation for educational attainment and genuine integration.

The school accepts enrolments from Year 1 - Year 7.

Great day at the Halloween Party, some great costumes and lots of fun. Thank you to the volunteers and helpers, we appreciate that none of this would be possible without your help. Our lucky winner of an Omniplex family voucher was Noah Logan for his fantastic Bat Pumpkin. Thanks to all who came.

A very sophisticated piece of writing from one of our Yr 7 children. We have been discussing war and conflict as part of our topic this term. We looked at 'peace' and what this might look like for our world.

Year 7 had a wonderful morning at Moira Demesne for their Forest School lesson. They worked collaboratively to build dens and tall structures using natural materials found in the forest. They even created some lovely artistic designs. Great fun had by everyone!

“Integrated schools really value parental involvement and encourage parents to participate in all aspects of school’s life” ... tonight we were delighted to elect two new parent governors to Rowandale’s Board of Governors. If you are a parent/carer interested in the school and want to learn more about parental involvement and influence at Rowandale, look out for our Open Night or telephone the school to arrange a personal visit 02892 613946.

Superb School! My kids love it.

The breakfast club and after-school clubs are a big help, especially when the wee ones are dying to go! :-)

Rowandale Integrated Primary School is a great start in life for any child. Teacher and child relationships are excellent. A brilliant school and a great example of integrated education in N.I. which is so important. Full marks to

Rowandale.

Our grandson, Marco, went to this wonderful school which we visited more than once when in NI, I think, in a way, he still misses it since he moved on to secondary school! We were particularly impressed by the school, its layout, didactic approach and atmosphere. We are happy to learn that his little sister, Alice, will be starting P1 in September.

Our daughter is in P1 and absolutely loves it. She was all excited about going back today after the Christmas holidays. Everybody in Rowandale is very friendly and helpful. It's not just a school, you feel like being part of the big Rowandale family. We can highly recommend it.

My son loves attending Rowandale and my daughter is very excited about starting in September. Could not rate them highly enough.

Both my children attend Rowandale Integrated Primary School. One is in Yr 6, the other in Yr 3. It was hugely important to us to send our children to an integrated school, and Rowandale was, and is, the only integrated school in this area. The fact that our children spend all day every day with children of all faiths and none, and with children of all abilities will, I believe, make them more tolerant and accepting of the many diverse situations they will be faced with in life. I love that they get to celebrate lots of different religious festivals and learn that living and learning together is the only way forward for Northern Ireland. The teaching at the school is excellent and the pastoral care is exemplary. We have not, for one moment, regretted our choice of school.

A brilliant community Primary School and Playgroup, and a wonderful example of Integrated Education in NI. The wraparound care in the form of before and after school clubs couldn't be faulted, and the teaching staff, administration and parents' council committee are friendly, welcoming and work extremely hard. Rowandale is a happy, safe and nurturing environment. :-) :-) :-)
