Royal Tigers Association Description

The history of The Royal Leicestershire Regiment is a long and glorious one. It all began in 1688 and ended in 1964 when the Regiment was renamed 4th Bn (Leicestershire) Royal Anglian Regiment. In 1970 the Bn was reduced in status and became Tiger Company. However, just five years later on the 1st July 1975 Tiger Company was disbanded. For those who are interested there a great many books that record those years in great detail. The RTA has many hundreds of active members and a management structure of Trustees, a General Committee, and an Association Secretary. Each year, in June, we have a reunion called Tigers' Weekend. On the Saturday there is held an AGM followed by a Regimental Dinner. On the Sunday, there is a service at the Cathedral, followed by a march through Leicester with Standard flying. Following dismissal there is a Bar and Lunch held at Devonshire Place. Twice a year in Spring and Autumn, the Association produces and distributes to all members, free of charge, our magazine called 'The Green Tiger'.
