Screenwriting Goldmine Description

Since 2007 we have been helping UK screenwriters get going as professionals.

We’ll help you develop your craft, and give you the information you need to build a career in screenwriting.

Our website is full of free advice on both the craft of writing, and the skills you need to get your script out into the industry.

Our Open Door Newsheet goes out every month, and is packed full of career advice, industry news, and employment opportunities for screenwriters. You can read more about that here:

Once a year we run The Screenwriting Goldmine Awards, a competition for screenwriters.

We look for original movie or tv scripts, from 45 up to 125 pages, any genre, any budget.

Previous years’ entries included tense thrillers, action adventures, police procedurals, experimental science fiction, fantasy and period drama, contemporary drama, horror, and high concept blockbusters. We welcomed them all.

This is what people in the industry have to say say:

"New talent is the life blood of the industry and it’s great that Screenwriting Goldmine is providing another route for emerging writers to have their voices heard and learn their craft. "
-- Roberto Troni, Commissioning Editor at C4 Drama

"The Screenwriting Goldmine competition consistently delivers professional standard winners and finalists who subsequently find agents and work. In an industry where it is still not easy for new writers to break through the competition provides a valuable service. "
-- Steve Matthews, Executive Producer, Drama Development at HBO Europe.

"It's wonderful that Screenwriting Goldmine is able to bring fresh new talent to the attention of people in the industry from their very first screenplay. "
-- Tanya Tillett, Literary Agent, The Agency, London

Last year we had nearly 30 top industry movers and shakers on our judging panel.
