Shobukan Karate Club Description

Hi All, - Thought it was time to put up a page for the Shobukan Karate Club
I started the shobukan club in May 2012 and it has gone from strength to strength.
Shobukan literally means 'house of Martial Learning' and takes me back to my early years of training (started age 7 in 1969 in a little dojo above a garage in Adamsdown, Meteor Street, Cardiff and have continued ever since - thanks Dad for taking me along all those years ago) in Aikido at Cardiff Aikikai club under Sensei Kazuo Chiba and Sensei Colin Pike and the Shobukan Aikido club under Sensei Kanetsuka and Sensei Peter Gillard. My Colleague Jason Beuschel and I subsequently formed the Newport Aikido Club based at Lliswerry until I moved abroad with work and then had the pleasure of training in Aikido and Shotokan Karate in numerous countries including the Middle East, Russia, Turkey and Germany plus many dojos in Europe and also Scandinavia.
Nearly 10 years ago, I started to train at Derby Karate Club under Sensei Trevor Seddon 5th Dan and am really pleased to have my 3 children and wife training there as well and am very proud of my boys who have both achieved their 1st Dan in Wado Ryu having started at the age of 5 and furthermore our daughter is very close to her 1st Dan.
So, here we are today and Shobukan Karate Club - a lovely club where we work on a balance of traditional Wado Ryu Karate, a blend of Yoshinkan Aikido, good fun whilst observing the traditional Japanese etiquette.
