A local girl guiding group would really like to take part in the carnival parade this year as they do every year and wondered if there is anyone or a company that is able to supply them with a large lorry for them to use a float.

IT'S TIME TO REACH FOR THE STARS
A MESSAGE FROM LISA COLLINS... The Lincolnshire Coastal Destination BID/ Visit Lincs Coast are delighted to announce that they are to fund the Skegness Carnival parade. The voluntary run carnival committee has been awarded the sum of £5,460 to pay for traffic management, LIVES First aid and 4 marching bands for the parade. The Board of Directors were keen to see the annual parade take place as it’s such an important event for the whole town. This funding will ensure this year’s carnival parade takes place as there were fears that this year’s parade may have to be cancelled due to lack of funding. Lisa Collins, BID Manager says “we are delighted to be funding this year’s carnival parade, it’s an important event for the whole town, from businesses to community groups who enjoy taking part in the annual parade. It significantly boosts visitor numbers and local businesses really benefit from this annual event, with many accommodation providers booked up yearly in advance. We have a great working relationship with the hardworking carnival committee and we are pleased that we have been able to step in and help this year.”
A MESSAGE FROM GARY STARR We are so happy to receive this generous donation this year and cannot thank Lisa and her team enough for the support. Also a massive thanks to Vice Chairman James Howsam for all the time he spent on completing and submitting the application.
Along with this wonderful support from the Destination Bid the carnival committee has been working hard to raise additional funds and recently performed 3 shows at the Neverland Theatre to raise money for the parade. THE WIZARD OF OZ AND VARIETY NIGHT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS and was a fitting tribute to the volunteers who work tirelessly all year too ensure this Skegness tradition continues.
This year will be the biggest Carnival Parade Skegness has ever seen and we look forward too seeing everyone there. A massive thank you to everyone that has supported us, the Skegness Carnival this year will be an incredible spectacle!
It's not over yet! We still need more sponsors, we still need more volunteers we still need everyone to get behind the carnival and help keep it alive for years to come.

I know there’s a few of “the usual mob” on Facebook making rediculous comments about how the “old committee” always fundraised and had lots of money - until I took over as Chairman ... yet again it seems these ridiculous people hide behind their keyboards and spout utter drivel to anyone that will listen, yet again for some reason, I have become the online target for the bitter few and their followers eager to share their lies and bile - so instead - I thought I’d give you a... few facts:
*The current committee of volunteers works tirelessly to raise money all year to put on this free public event. All members work for free for the good of the community as did the old committee prior, as they always have in the past. It is a thankless task.
*The costs have risen in putting on this event as they do year on year so we are seeking more ways to raise funds... as has been in the past and will no doubt be in the future. Many businesses already contribute, but we also need support from the public.
*The Skegness Carnival was never funded by the DBID - however The DBID kindly funded the Summer Festival last year - this was a separate event to the Carnival that was organised by the Carnival Committee - it is not to blame for the current financial requirements of the Skegness Carnival.
*The Carnival is not funded by the Council, they are in no way to blame for the funding required either, although they did sponsor the Christmas Market this year - which allowed it to go on and so indirectly helped us raise some money toward the Carnival something a few people aren’t aware of.
*The year I joined the committee, when there were 20 people on it - all fundraising and working hard... it had no money and was doing exactly the same as we are now - fighting to keep it alive. (Contrary to the several statuses from various ex members and their friends about how they always had money until I took over)

I, like the rest of the volunteers grow tired of the constant online abuse from these few people when all we are doing is the one thing they’re not - making the effort.
My advice to those bitter few - Why not try contributing to society in a more positive manner, instead of spewing hate, make an effort, do something for the good of the town.

The Parade this year is in need of funding as the costs have massively escalated on putting on this event. We are a group of volunteers that seek funding via, events and sponsorship.
