Visited here the other day for a drink and bite to eat and have to say it was a pleasant experience. Service was bang on, staff very friendly and the overall feel of the place was somewhere I will definitely re-visit if I’m in the area again. If you are looking for good beer and a “cheap eat” I definitely recommend.

User

Visited for the first time yesterday for a meal and drinks prior to seeing Sarah Millican, on a friend's recommendation. Four of us got a table straight away even though the place was quite busy. Waitresses were really nice and attentive, the food was lovely and not as expensive as you might expect for a city setting. Drinks did take a while to arrive but the bar was busy. The 2-4-1 cocktail offer is fab, especially as it also applies to mocktails and my friend was unable to drink and was also with her under age daughter. The place looked great and the loos were lovely and clean. I'd definitely go back....thanks for starting off a fabulous night

Treated my girlfriend to a birthday lunch here... she weren't massively impressed when I told her it was at the Slug if I'm honest, but... after the speedy service, top-notch food (and a couple of teeky chequilas) - she was pleasantly surprised. I made a right saving as well as I could have taken her somewhere poncey for twice the price and I genuinely don't think I'd have got more bang for my buck. Bar staff are friendly and a good laugh too. Will be going back.

Shopping in town with my wife & decided to have lunch here as we have been before. It was quite busy but managed to find a table. The waitress came, she was very efficient & pleasant and had some banter which we like. The meal was very nice, hot and plentiful washed down with a lager. Very enjoyable . Also because it was Monday the offer was meals half price. Would highly recommend & will certainly revisit.

In Nottingham for a brief day trip- a local recommended I pay Slug & Lettuce a visit for a cocktail... well!!! We ended up staying for food and had a fantastic time! The staff know their cocktails and were super helpful

Can’t wait to visit again! Thanks so much!!

User

I did cocktail making yesterday for my hen and we had such an amazing time! Full of fun, games and energy. Every single one of us had an amazing time, the buffet was great and the whole thing was so much better than I expected. Thankyou to Tom that did it with us

User

Great place for a few beers with the lads, the missus doesn't mind it for a nice glass of wine or a cocktails either! Staff are efficient and really friendly.

User

Came here with my wife and her mum , had a great meal and really thought the staff were great , the service was so good it actually helped me forget how much i cant stand my mother in law !! And that in itself deserves 5 stars . Will be back .

User

Awesome place to go for a drink! Oh and the food is quality as well! Would definitely recommend you drop by!

My granddaughter booked a table for her 18th birthday lunch, I called prior to attending to let them know it was her 18th the lady who answered was very helpful and decorated the table for us.

She was working alone that day as staff hadn't turned in, the restaurant got really busy being lunchtime.

She worked so very hard running the tables with very little support.

A big thank you to this lady she made the day very special for us all and the food was fab, she must have been exhausted by the time her shift ended at 6pm.

I do hope the tip we left went direct to her as she so deserved it, she is a credit to the company a big big thank you from us all

Hiya we came on Saturday and was wondering if the lovely lady who took poorly at the top of stairs is ok....it was my friend (Jayne and me kat) who was helping her with her husband.

Just wondering.....

Feedback for staff... Maybe more staff need first aid training, be fully aware of your exit / entry points, have a medical chair stored if people do take poorly at the top of the stairs...be more considerate about when to fill in the accident book as was at the wrong moment for her husband thanks

User

We came here on Saturday for my Hen Do meal. We had booked the table for 8, in the end there was 6 of us. However our reserved table was only set for 5 people, so had to wait for them to find a extra chair. The tables were very sticky, and didn't feel very clean. The initial welcome was friendly, and the service was quick. After waiting 15 minutes for our drinks we politely asked where they were, for staff to come back and say they had been put on another table. Easy mistake when it's busy, they 're did our drinks and brought them over and apoligised. The food that came wasn't brilliant, could of been worse but definatly wasn't as good as we had hoped. We had to constantly duck down whilst eating and drinking as staff were constantly carrying tables past us and above our heads!! Not great when your trying to eat. Then within 45 minutes of being there, not long finishing our food and not finished our drinks we were presented with the bill (that we hadn't asked for yet, as we hadn't decided if we were going to stay for more cocktails or Not!)and asked if we could "hurry up and pay the bill, as I'm finishing soon " From the waitress. I'm sorry but how rude is that? I've ate out in lots of different places , and I have never experienced that before!!!! Once we paid our bill, we needed £3 change. However the waitress never returned, probably assumed she could hace it as a tip Overall, not the best experience and won't be back in a hurry unfortunately.

User

It was ok. Just!! We were there yesterday, as we visited our 2 boys at uni in Nottingham. The staff were lovely but the service was really slow. This, in my opinion, was more down to the lack of numbers of staff than their competence. We ordered a drink which took fully 15 minutes to arrive. My peroni, at £5.05 a pint, was quite a short measure and not particularly cold by the time it arrived. We could see it sitting on the bar for at least 10 minutes before it got to us. The food was ok but my wife and sons had theirs at least 10 minutes before I did and so we didn’t really eat together. One of my sons ordered 3 of the small plates, the last of which arrived with my burger. Quality of food was just ok (again). I can’t think of a reason why we would return.

User

Came here to day with 8 other ladies to start the celebration of my sisters birthday. The waiting time at the bar was ridiculous! I waited ages with my niece to be served, she finally got served after 15 mins, then the server turned to someone else next to her to serve them and I told him I had been waiting longer and he basically didn’t care, he told me he would serve them first then me!!! I went to the other end of the bar and complained to a manager who served me but I was not impressed with the lack of customer service. No worry’s from the guy or anything. I used to love this place but it’s changed and the atmosphere isn’t the same anymore. Not happy. Also the serve had no clue what the Cocktail for the royal wedding was even though it was advertised on their own website.

Yesterday me and some friends went for lunch at The Slug and Lettuce. Our experience was awful to say the least. When we ordered drinks the waitress forgot a teabag which we just shrugged off as it’s an easy mistake to make. However when we ordered more mistakes seemed to occur. We asked for a chicken feast with friends, 2 chicken, cheese, bacon and bbq melts, and a tuna mayo wrap. That was not what we received. Two of the sandwiches were missing bacon, which we sent back to the kitchen, and we were not even given the sharing board! After this, my friend decided to go to the toilet and there was not a single cubicle with toilet roll! We then addressed the waitress about our horrible experience and her reaction was not what we expected. We were told that we were wrong and that she didn’t remember us ordering a sharing board (she didn’t go through what she had written down after we ordered, that’s why she didn’t remember) We then spoke with the manager who was just as rude, when giving us £6.75 as a reimbursement for the sharing board he said “Here’s the money for the sharing board you ‘apparently’ ordered.” I am so appalled by the attitudes of the workers here and by the overall experience. As a former waitress, I would have never of dealt with a situation so poorly, I would of at least been polite to the customer! It is so unprofessional, I honestly would of had a better experience at McDonald’s. I would never recommend this place to anyone and will not be going back. By looking through the past reviews it clearly shows many people will not be returning too.

User

Usually Our favourite pub chain, but after going in yesterday in Nottingham and had to wait 30 minutes for a pint to be delivered to the table, it was flat. We then got told it as probably because it was the end of the Barrell!! I then ordered a pint of Heineken after being told Amstel and Peroni and Estrella has run out... waited another 15 mins for the waitress to return to tell me that had run out of that too!! 1.00 pm on a Saturday afternoon and no draught lager... ridiculous and what a waste of 90 minutes of our day!!!

User

I’d booked a table for 11 and had been very impressed with the speed and efficiency of the managers response when I made the initial booking. I’d never been in the establishment before but was also very impressed with the decor- clean, bright and spacious. The waitress was very good and the food delightful-hot, well cooked and not too much. However, the girl behind the bar was slow. Admittedly she was on her own to serve which definitely needs to be improved upon especially when the place was heaving at midday but after waiting what seemed an age to be served, she ignored me and went to serve others. I had to point out that I was there before them and her face hardened. I know I was in the right but she didn’t have the grace to apologise for her error! When we went to the bar later, again, there were insufficient staff serving and so three of us left in disgust! It would have been nice to get a smile from the bar staff-ok it was Easter Saturday but if you can’t stand waiting on people, for God’s sake find a job that you enjoy. It will be a long time before I return, if I ever do.

User

Had a nightmare when we went for a meal on 2/06.Phoned to book a table in the morning, had phone again to get email confirmations of bookings.when we arrived at the slug and lettuce Nottingham there was no record of the booking no table available. They had to get a table in the middle of the floor to accommodate us.It was a shame as the food was enjoyable but have been put off booking again

User

Booked for a work colleagues leaving only to be told booking didn’t exist! Was assured we would have a table within the hour, went back after 45 mine to be told kitchen had closed. Thank you for ruining a work colleague leaving do after she has worked for 16 years in the NHS!
