About St Andrew'S Church, High Wycombe

God's transforming presence at the heart of our community

St Andrew'S Church, High Wycombe Description

We are a church made up of people from many walks of life, but who all share a common vision: to see our community transformed through a church that is alive with the joy of knowing and worshipping God, changed through living out His word, filled with His Spirit, living lives modeled on Jesus Christ and doing the works of the kingdom.

We have strong links with New Wine. We would love to invite you to come and join us for one of our Weekend Celebrations. Midweek small groups form the heart of the church running in different locations and at various times. We also run the Alpha course – which is a great introduction to the Christian Faith and a great place for those seeking answers to the questions of life.

We would love to have a may pole for our Noise event on 18 May. Do you know of any group or school who might have one we could borrow? If so please get in touch with the church office.

We had an absolutely wonderful time on Saturday night at the Big Come Dine Event. Well done to all those who helped to make it such a great evening and for raising £4000 for our Nexus Building project.

We are praying for SMG Church today as they begin a new season of services at 9.30am and the new service at 11.15am. Can't wait to hear the stories of God working in and through you as you see God's transforming presence in Sands and Castlefield.

Starlight Baby and Toddler Group at St Andrew's Church celebrated World Book Day today with a fundraiser for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity. We were delighted to be joined by Marvin the Marvellous Crocodile and Nicky West from the charity. We raised just over £70 for the charity, which supports seriously ill children. Here's a picture of some of the wonderful Starlight team with Marvin!

A wonderful day commissioning a new Church Planting team to revitalise a church on the other side of town. 30 people from St Andrew's were part of the team we prayed for and sent out today. It was incredibly moving with a real mix of emotions. Encouraging to see this group of people step out with real faith and a sense of adventure to serve the community of Sands and Castlefield. Also, sadness that we will not be seeing many wonderful friends each Sunday morning.

With our change to one service people have been asking why we are doing it. The reason behind it is because of our new Church Plant that is happening in March. We are sending a group of people to start something new at another Church on the other side of High Wycombe. We will be bringing the church community at St Andrew's together for this season to build a joint sense of unity, purpose and a feeling of being less stretched over two services. As we look to build and grow in the future, our aim will be to return to two services.

In March we will be changing from two morning services to one. We are using a variety of methods to see what start time people would prefer. Please select from the below options what your preference would be:

This is an update from Levi, one of our Mission Partners in Brazil. We are joining together to pray for Levi and another Mission Partner Sue Gravina this coming Wednesday 5th at 7.30pm in the Prayer Room. This is what Levi says: ****LEVI HEALTH UPDATE****
So a few friends have asked and here is an update on my health. For the last few months I have been sufferening from recurring tonsillitis... on Monday last week the symptoms of a new crisis started and I sought help for m...edication as per usual. By Thursday, although I was already on antibiotics I was a very sick man with a fever that just didn't subside. So I went to a&e and was advised that I could have complications with very serious results if I was not admitted as an inpatient. We were dealing with a resistant bacteria and I needed help. This was late at night and I was alone as Debs had the kids. I then went home got some things and got an ubber back to hospital. I can easily say these have been some of the hardest days of my life, when it comes to my health. I have had scrutiating pain, not been able to swallow anything including water, and been through the horrible sensations of delirion that fever can bring you. Even today I cried as a baby in my mother's arms because I tried to drink and it felt like I was drinking glass shards on fire. The bad news is: this infection is a tough cookie. What started in the tonsils has now spread to the neck, ears, and tongue. It has caused pain I never imagined possible. I am drugged to the max a human in my situation can take. The good news is: the infection has started to show weakness. The latest tests continue to show a slow and very modest progress in the right direction. White cells are dropping which is a sign the infection is losing ground. Very modest and at this rate still a few days off being discharged ... but good. The great news is: I know whom I have believed and I know he will be glorified in my life whatever happens. He has written my days in his book and not a hair falls from my head without his knowledge. In this truth I am safe... beyond the reassurance of a blood test. Sorry for such a long post... Please continue to pray for Debora who is being there for the kids and dealing with the impact my unexpected absence has on them. Pray for me... well for less pain, more peace and healing.
