Stanwick Lakes

About Stanwick Lakes

Welcome to Stanwick Lakes,
where the adventure lasts all day!

Stanwick Lakes Description

Stanwick Lakes is a unique 750acre countryside attraction and nature reserve in the heart of Northamptonshire's beautiful Nene Valley, and is widely considered to be one of the region's most imaginative outdoor activity destinations.
It offers the best of both worlds: extensive play areas to keep adventurous families entertained for hours, and for nature lovers, walkers and cyclists, acres of wide open spaces and paths, where blue skies are reflected in tranquil waters.

And if the weather is less than perfect? Head indoors to the visitor centre, with its host of facilities and activities.

Stanwick Lakes is managed as a social enterprise by environmental charity, Rockingham Forest Trust, in partnership with East Northamptonshire Council.

£3.50 for a days parking is really good! Loads to do, great for the kids, will go again when the weather is warmer...to anyone going, make sure you take wellies and towels for everyone! And buggies for the little ones as it's a lot of waking if your going to venture further than the adventure playground. The assault course is awesome but there needs to be staff there to organise it a little. Too many people going the wrong way and kids getting kicked in the face climbing the walls and pushing past smaller ones. The lakes are beautiful, I wouldn't mind taking my rods and checking out the fisheries at some point! Nice cheap and easy day out 👍🏼

User

Went yesterday after looking for somewhere different to walk and was very impressed! Can see its very child friendly and although I don't have grandkids myself yet have already recommended it to someone who does! Will go again as didn't get round it all as it's so big :) was easy to get to from Leicester (by car)

User

We went with family & friends including 5 children. We all had a wonderful day. There's something here for everyone. The adventure park & trail are fantastic for children of all ages, ours were between the ages of 3-12 they all had a great time. The obstacle course was fun & really tested all of us that enjoy a challenge. There's lovely walks around the different lakes. The maximum charge for parking is £5.50 which I feel is excellent for a full fun day out. Will definitely be coming back again very soon.

User

Visited Stanwick lakes today with my 2 young daughters: have been many times before and always love it. Today particularly I was very impressed by the customer services in the visitors centre. I realised after being there an hour that I had left my purse at home with no cash to pay for parking etc. After talking to the lady in the centre she advised not to worry as I can pay by Apple Pay! (Absolute lifesaver: didn't fancy the long walk back home in this heat to fetch purse to retrieve car). Yay for technology and yay for very efficient and helpful staff

User

Took my 3 daughters and they loved it! Loads to do and for the price of just the parking is well worth a great day out, long walks, an adventure trail and big park :-)

User

Such a cheap day out and so so fun. I have two boys, aged 3 and 8, they are total mud magnets so this is the perfect day out for them. Can be fairly intense trying to keep an eye on the kids as there are so many places for them to hide, however (and this is a HUGE plus side) all of the structures and big enough to hold fully grown adults, no matter how big they are. I loved seeing random kids helping other random kids, every time a smaller kid tripped or hurt themselves, lots of bigger kids would come and see if they were alright and helped them back to their parents - it was lovely! It does get busy, but that is to be expected. We always split the day into 3 parts, a lovely walk, a go on the assault course and then free reign in the adventure playground. ALWAYS a complete change of clothes required afterwards - but this is what childhood is about!

User

Spent a lovely day here. Children aged from 9 - 14 years. Plenty to do, great walks and play equipment. Would recommend for all ages, but be aware of the water!

User

LOVE that the kids can explore / play with sand mud and water, great play area. beautiful walks and great it has little play equipment around the walks too. perfect place for family say out.

User

I had no idea this amazing place is free

We hired bikes

Walked along the lake

And kids had amazing time

Do take spare clothes and there is also a BBQ area what else u want a perfect place for a day out

User

Have visited a few times before, spent the day here today the kids loved every minute. From the amazing adventure play ground with running water play to the very reasonable bike hire to explore the lakes more. Will definitely be returning over the summer.

User

Great place for kids, cafe is great and reasonably priced, staff were all lovely, we had a great day. Highly recommended.

User

Amazing place to go, walks with things for kids to go on along the way, climbing equipment, large parks&an fantastic water play area! A new favourite place to take the kids (ages from 2-12) definitely recommend!!

I recommend a towel and swim stuff when u visit the kiddies will get wet

User

Absolutely brilliant day out with my family today at Stanwick. Easy to find, easy and cheap to park and best of all entry is free ... take a picnic to save more cash. We had ice creams which are very reasonably priced. Walked for miles and my son loved the massive adventure playground. Will definitely return.

User

had a fun day with my family. we bought the very reasonably priced orienteering pack which came with a compass and instructions which made an enjoyable walk a fun walk for us all but especially the youngsters.. .. the younger members of the family enjoyed the play area and there were places to picnic or barbecue.. nice if you have dogs too as they are welcome in almost all the walking areas..would go back especially on a summer day, with family and big picnic ..

User

Kids had a really good time in the outdoor play area. My kids range from 18 months to 7 years old and there is something for all of them to do. The only down side is the parking, £3.50 for 2 hours is really expensive.

User

I love this place and will always go back but have one major issue that bugs me every time I go which is those parents that stand on a CHILDRENS play area and smoke! I hate it and I can't believe it's not banned from the vacinity and more closely monitored. I can't take my dog on there but others can stand and merrily waft cigarette smoke into my child's face?!? Sort it out Stanwick!

User

Did the Easter Egg Hunt on Easter monday, was fab kids had fun finding the eggs and got a prize after even though we didn't get all the answers right, lunch in the cafe was nice very busy though! Then they had a great time on the play area and in the sand. Nice cheap day out. £3.50 parking for a couple of hours is really good!!! Highly recommend! Will deffo be coming back when it's much warmer!xx

User

Beautiful place indeed- my 1st visit as just moved to the area and this was at the top of my to visit lists. Excellent for walkers, cyclists and dog walkers alike. The reason I only gave 4 stars is that when trying to exit the car park, there are no visible signs or directions in just how to get to where the exit is. I asked several people but like me, they were 1st time visitors and did not know so I was lucky enough to spot a car park marshall and ask him. You get to the exit just the same way as you come in but the vehicles coming in to park did not seem to realise that the roads were for 2 way traffic, most people were polite & made room but one or 2 shouted abuse. So please could you make it clear just how and where you can exit the car park area so everyone can know.

User

Very dirty and some of it seems unhygienic and potentially a health hazard.

Toilets and café filthy.

Not the best experience ever, sadly.
