Today we say a fond farewell to our Practice Nurse Keris Rhodes as she spends her last day at the surgery before relocating to North Derbyshire.
Keris has been a huge asset to the surgery team and will be missed by all her colleagues.
We all send our best wishes for her future career.

Do take care when travelling to the surgery today due to the snow.
If you are unable to travel to the surgery for your appointment please contact us - it may be possible that we can deal with your health needs by telephone instead.
Please remember these conditions are also dangerous for our staff to travel in. We will be triaging all home visit requests to find the best way to assist our most vulnerable patients.

Public Health England have confirmed that Flu levels are higher this year than they have been in the last 7 years.
Public Health England are advising anyone who is eligible for a NHS Flu jab that is not too late to have it if you have yet to have yours - this will help prevent levels reaching epidemic numbers.
NHS Flu jabs are available to all people aged over 65 and those living with long term health conditions - see the details below and contact or call call into the surger...y if you think you are eligible or have any queries.
We can all help reduce the spread of Flu by sneezing into tissues, binning them and washing our hands with soap and water after.
“Catch it! Bin it! Kill it!”

The early birds amongst you may have heard Dr Betteridge-Sorby on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme this morning discussing the effect Winter Pressures are having on all NHS organisations and staff.
Like all NHS organisations we, as a Surgery, plan carefully for Winter Pressures and increased patient activity.
Examples include:
... - Ensuring as many patients that are eligible for an NHS Flu vaccine receive it - including opportunistically whilst patients are attending for other reasons
- Our GPs have protected time out of surgery to perform ward rounds of our frailer patients living in our local residential and nursing homes
- Our telephone triage system ensures patients receive timely advice and can be offered a same day appointment in the surgery if required
- We discuss the needs of our housebound and palliative patients regularly with other community health professionals and colleagues in adult social care to ensure those at most risk of an unplanned Hospital admission are equipped and empowered to remain cared for in their own homes wherever possible.

A local temporary power cut has damaged our IT server.
We have IT professionals on site trying to rectify the problem currently but this is limiting our ability to perform certain tasks that require our computer systems.
Our standard “business continuity plan” is in operation and we are asking all patients to attend appointments as usual. Our reception team will be able to advise patients with any queries.
... We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are hoping for the situation to resolve by the end of the day.
Thank you.

Due to the adverse weather conditions a number of our staff members are delayed in getting to the surgery. This may lead to a delay in your appointment or you may be offered an alternative member of staff. Thank you.

❄️SNOW ANNOUNCEMENT❄️
We plan to see all patients as planned today but would advise all patients to take care when travelling to the surgery as we are aware of dangerous driving conditions and it being very slippery underfoot.
CANCELLING APPOINTMENTS
... We will assume all patients who do not attend appointments today have chosen to remain safe at home and will in no way be penalised for not attending appointments.
❄️There is no need to inform the surgery if you wish to cancel your appointment today due to the weather.❄️
We wish for our phone lines to remain clear for other patient queries.
HOME VISIT REQUESTS
We will find it very difficult to visit patients in their own home today due to the safety risks this poses to our staff and also the increased amount of time it will remove them from other patients in the surgery.
Any home visit requests will be phoned initially to discuss other options with the patient or their carer.

We welcomed Lisa Barker from Derbyshire Carers Association to the Surgery today.
Lisa will be holding monthly sessions at the surgery to meet with any of our patients who are fulfilling a Caring role for a dependent adult over the age of 18. This might be a spouse, parent, child, sibling or friend.
As a surgery, we are looking to do as much as we can to support Carers and we think Lisa’s input will be invaluable alongside the work of our Care-Coordinator Sarah Hänel.
... For more details on Derbyshire Carers Association and the services they offer visit their website below.
If you think you’d value seeing Lisa to discuss your role and needs as a Carer please contact our Reception team for more details.
