I like the huge range, but don't like how stuff continually gets moved about. More often or not I leave frustrated and annoyed without things I wanted. Tesco own range is often great, even the cheapo range. Checkout staff are hard working and mostly are friendly and helpful. Too many white men in suits wandering about or just chatting though. 3.5 stars

Thank you Tesco for frightening my Partner half to death in front of our two young children.

Thank you for your unprofessional conduct when dealing with someone innocent who has been a victim of fraud.

My partner came into Tesco Leicester Beaumont Leys this afternoon to do some shopping, and used her Tesco bank card to enter her Clubcard Number (which is on the back of the bank card) to use one of the handheld scanners. When typing the club card number in, an error popped up saying 'Error Code 200'.

After grabbing a member of staff, my partner told her the error code, and the member of staff took her bank card from her and pulled a blue folder out to check what the error code was for.

After checking it, she told my partner to wait there and grabbed a member of security. The member of staff came back and accused my partner of stealing around £40 worth of shopping last Saturday and that the Security Guard needed to make a call.

At this point my Partner was panicking, shaking, crying in front of our 2 and 5 year old, because apart from that one piece of information, she wasn't informed about who the security guard was calling or what was happening.

My partner was trying to show your member of staff information that proved her innocence, based on shopping details in your very store last week, receipts of her being at an NTC sale and Afternoon tea with her friends last Saturday when the Shopping was stolen, but she was completely ignored and told it's down to the Security Guard to sort out.

After making a phone call to me to explain what was going on, the manager came down to talk to her. The manager said 'What's happening?'. My partner explained everything, that they went in to scan some toys to see if any were on offer because the prices are never right on the tags, and that our 5 year old son had docked the gun that had no shopping scanned on it when it was left (in front of a member of staff).

The gun obviously didn't dock right and someone picked it up (if front of a staff managed area), and continued to steal £40 worth of shopping under my partner Clubcard account (which is classed as fraud).

My partner did do some shopping but in the end, she used the self checkout because it's quicker to do that for the 3 items she bought and used the Pay+ Tesco app on her phone (which she proved to the manager). She also explained where she was after that (NTC Sale Beaumont Leys School and Afternoon Tea with her friends with pictures with time stamps to prove it).

The manager then decided to give my partner a lecture in Scanning Gun usage. He explained that the gun is for shopping not for checking prices (we won't need to do this if your prices on the shelves were correct, which a majority of the time in the toy section they are not).

He also carried on the lecture with the question of how does he know she didn't steal the shopping, even though at that point he never asked for any proof from my partner of how can she show him she didn't do it, no checking of the CCTV footage and basically tarnishing my partner as a Shoplifter with absolutely no proof.

At no point was any compassion or actual fact finding done, especially seeing as my partner was an absolute wreck and my children confused on what was going on.

After my partner explained everything, showed him Pay+ payment, the NTC card payment that proved she wasn't in the store at the time the shopping was scanned, he told my partner to that it will be cleared and to sit down and compose herself (cheeky twat) and that when she was ready to go back shopping in the store, to see a member of staff on the scanning area to clear the message.

My partner was left sitting there, in absolute hysterics, crying, shaking and scared to even leave the store due to the shock of it all.

She wasn't even offered an apology for the mixup from Security, the member of staff and especially the rude arrogant manager. Instead the manager just walked off, as did the other member of staff until my partner approached her to get the code cleared and retrieve her bank card back.

At this point, my partner didn't want to go shopping (for obvious reasons), and told the member of staff if the error code was cleared. She was told that this error code wouldn't clear until she does a shopping run and checks out. My partner, who was still upset and just wanted it clearing and to go home, had to persuade to member of staff to clear it without doing any shopping.

ALL OF THIS WAS DONE IN FRONT OF MY 2 AND 5 YEAR OLD...ON THE SHOP FLOOR...IN FRONT OF OTHER CUSTOMERS LOOKING ON.

I managed to get to my partner after it was all sorted, and I was fuming. I went back into the store and unfortunately couldn't speak to the same Security guard or manager, but managed to speak to a female Manager who wasn't involved and explained what had gone on. Luckily you have a manager who was quiet compassionate and couldn't believe what was going on. She said she would enquire what happened and call me back (which I'm still waiting for a call).

My family wasn't taken somewhere quiet, my partner was in the dark for most of the incident, she wasn't given chance to prove herself before it escalated, and was spoken to in a rude and unprofessional manner.

She was just accused of stealing without proof that she stole £40 worth of shopping, which is absolutely disgusting. Tesco as a business should be ashamed of themselves if they train there member of staff, security and managers to deal with innocents like that in that disgusting manner.

Thank you for everything, I'm sure our custom will be more appreciated at one of your competitors stores.
