Tribe take over the fortress on the Friday was off the scale!!

This'll be my third time Beatherding and from past experience one never knows what to expect!

Straight out of the gate it is immediately obvious that the organisers have worked tirelessly to fill the spaces between music stages of this perfectly compact festival with engaging art installations, often with genuinely surprising interactive elements. It's a good time. There's a Wild West street built in the middle of the woods ffs, and that's only the start. Just think of a place of wonderful chaos, full of friendly folk buzzing to the best beats.

Long live Beatherder!

This was my debut outing at Beatherder and I can safely say it is one of the best weekends of my life.

I found the site to be nothing short of magical. The attention to detail in every aspect was clear, with every corner of the festival site filled with something hidden and interesting. The Toil Trees stage was a particular highlight. Whilst it was at its best for the slightly less busy acts, the backdrop was stunning. I thought Greg Wilson rounded the whole thing off in style too.

There was a big range of folks there but the atmosphere was on the whole really friendly. We will all be back next year. Big shout too for the security folks, they were proper sound all weekend too.

User

This is my second time at this lovely festival and I'll definitely be back. There's so much effort and attention that goes into making it really special and the music, production and art are all on point.

Also want to say a special thanks to the security team who were really friendly and helpful throughout. Thanks Beat-Herder for listening to people's grievances in the past and switching it up, it made a real difference to the weekend.

See you in 2018! <3

User

Thankyou so much to whoever handed in my boyfriends phone this weekend, thought he had lost it forever but it just goes to show there still is some genuine people around, and Thankyou to ed the security guard who made sure we found it and forced us to go check lost and found even though we were convinced it was stolen untill next year bh

User

Thank you for that - that was incredible, the best Festival I have ever been to.. Thanks for the beautiful and trippy vibes <3 xxx

User

Not only is Beat-Herder the best festival I've ever been to, it is the best weekend I've ever had. Every year it gets better and better. Such brilliantly varied music from some incredibly talented musicians. As a performer myself, it is my favourite gig of the year and we always get such a good response from the crazy crowds of beat-herder. 2018 is too far away!!!!!! #herdemup

User

Not missed for 10 years, great set up, paid every year too, and never been near crew camp year 11 booking right now.

I'm the poet who was walking round writing a poem on any subject for anyone I met-

I was wearing Tweed 3 piece suit, muddy steelies and a had a briefcase in hand.

I've been to Beatherder more years in a row than any job or relationship I've ever maintained- Either says something about my qualities as a partner or employee or just means I prefer Beatherder to desks and long term girlfriends- Anyway!

This festival experience was absolutely amazing.

I arrived at the festival on Thursday evening and got back to my house today around an hour ago (After contacting my landlord to get a £45 set of new keys that somehow, believe it or not I managed to lose over the weekend....)

Highlights of the festival:

1. Writing around 100 poems for people over the weekend. (Getting pictures of maybe 25 after losing a few devices- Uploads to come.) If anyone has any pictures or footage or their poetry please let me know!

2. Meeting a plethora of amazing people, characters galore- Sure I missed 75% of the acts I wanted to see but did I have a good time? You bet I did.

3. Falling asleep under the stars on Monday night with strangers by the fire- Banging.

4. Adopting a pringle as mascot for the day in toil trees and having a healthy crowd of people worshipping it on Sunday. Big ups to the pringle crew!

5. Scousers. Scousers everywhere.

6. The quality of music was fantastic- Big ups to all the stages, the organisers musicians/acts and crew- without them it would have just been a field. Obvs.

7. The atmosphere over the near week I spent was consistently awesome- couldn't have asked for a better festival.

8. The fireworks- they were more beautiful than my sunburn will ever be.

9. The scenery- I met so many people and viewed it with them- too many names to mention at current but for all those of whom I stared at the hills whilst listening to the music- thanks, it was quality.

10. Last highlight? Looking forward to next year as I left- As I always do.

Thanks Beatherder and all that came with it!

Right!

Gotta get ready for work now with the most drastic sunburn I've ever had!

Pictures and festival poem to follow at some point!

User

I loved beatherder. I love the place!!! I wonder if you could stick your neck out and shout out to all the party-heads for support for the anti-fracking crews at PNR and KM8?? Fracking about to start at Kirby Misperton and once the lid is off the North is doomed!!! People are need in numbers at both sites but KM8 urgently!!!! Stop fracking, join the resistance!!!

User

For collective anarchy you cant do better than beatherder. The crowd is great, a real mixed bag of ages and types and all friendly and up for it, and the music is a revelation. Makes an old raver feel right at home. Thank you, you beautiful beautiful bastards.

User

Did anyone film the Soulwax and Pins gigs, and if so any chance of upload to YouTube?? Thanks :)

User

Brilliant first time at beat-herder, will defo be coming again. Some of my favourite acts, complete randomness and chilled atmosphere plus the easiest wristband experience of my life <3 cheers!

User

Best place on earth. Some of the best times of my life have been at beat herder and have been to every one since I discovered it 5 years ago. If you've never been... wow. You need to. Peace x

User

Beatherder was the most fun I’ve ever had! Can’t wait for next year

User

Amazing festival, great music, great people and excellent atmosphere

User

A wonderful festival! Excellently curated. A spirit of silliness abounds. Lots of quirky little follies and the sort of immersive installations that all the best festivals have. The crowd is very friendly, people look out for each other but they are also really daft. It's a winning combo! The people that go to this festival genuinely LOVE it. Long live Beat-Herder!

User

Always a good weekend but this year wasn't my favourite. The crowd this year seemed very young and as someone else has mentioned, a bit more 'towny' than in previous years...which I think was the main reason for the fight in the trees on Sunday and the slightly different vibe to what I've had there before. The programming of the main evening/closing slots probably had a lot to do with the change of crowd I think...I was missing an Andrew Weatherall set or something similar. Otherwise, as always, a top festival...it would be a big shame if they lose their ethos and vibe through chasing what's 'trendy'.

User

Was so excited about this. Arrived, inadequate sized campsite with poor facilities - 4pm Friday already filthy and full of chavs. Nevermind. First night out, back into tent, tent next door being rowdy loudly discussing the crack they were smoking (!!) earplugs in and managed to get to sleep - woke up and shorts with wallet had been stolen from inside the tent in the night. Walked along to lost and found and passed backpacks that had been stolen and emptied out on the edge of the campsite and tents that had literally been turned inside out. It was what I expect camping in moss side would be like. We made the most of the weekend and there was good music to be heard, but the campsite and much of the clientele was absolutely dire. Even the majority of the security team seemed like scumbags - wouldn't have been surprised if it was them doing the robbing. A refund would be great. Really disappointed. 2 stars only because of the quality of some of the music, really tempted to leave 1.
