About The Cider Pantry

The Cider Pantry (formally The Forest Tea House) was originally opened in 1945 by Grandmother, Alice Mary Topp and was always loved for it's homemade scones and friendly service.
We, the Topp family of New Forest Cider, Burley, are now ever so proud to have it back in the family after so long and have spent a good couple of months restoring it back to a beautiful tearooms with a fresh and homely feel. We’ve even extended the garden and knocked it through to the cider farm, so a pint of Snakecatcher Scrumpy is never too far away!
Just as Mary did, we hope to welcome local friends and visitors to enjoy the tearooms and garden for many years to come.
The Cider Panty, Pound Lane, Burley, is open everyday for brunch, lunch and afternoon tea from 10am to 5pm weekdays and 9am to 6pm weekends. For reservations please call 01425 402193.

Welcome to February, which means we're back open every single day - what a relief! So, just what have we been up to in January?
John's been busy giving the kitchen a spruce up with a new finish on the walls and ceilings. Mary, Sue and Aunty Viv have been mending the curtains in the back room with a fresh floral touch and Sally has made a big dent in all her paperwork that had been piling up on her desk!
... Thank you for all your patience while we take much needed time out in January, but we're now pleased to say it's back to business as usual!

It's feeling a just little bit Christmassy here at The Cider Pantry, and what better way to get us in the spirit than some festive specials on our menu. Our burger of the month for December is going to be Turkey, of course! We've been tweaking the recipe of our turkey, bacon & stuffing patty, served with a festive winter slaw and lashings of cranberry sauce. Available from Friday 1st December, Yum!

What an amazing place. Fabulous choices on the menu and all homemade too. The food and drinks were superb. The service was just as good, we were made to feel very welcome. Good and drink were served quickly even on a busy Bank Holiday Monday. Prices are very very reasonable and excellent value. The cider farm is worth a visit too, lots to sample and buy. We will definitely be back.

User

What a great place! Lots of choice and all fabulously fresh! Friendly staff......we will definitely be back!

User

Visited whilst staying at Holmsley campsite on holiday from Edinburgh.

Fantastic place, super atmosphere and set-up very friendly helpful staff and lovely food, we had tomato soup which was thick sharp and tasty with lovely fresh bread and the salad with local ham, this could easily have been billed to share, it seemed never ending with a delightfully unusual selection of leaves and ingredients.

Can't fault the place or the food and highly recommended it.

User

Very yummy locally sourced food. All washed down with some New Forest Cider.

User

Stopped on the way to Bournemouth.

What a magical place to stumble across.

Thank you the lovely lunch.

User

Really lovely place ... friendly staff, great food and wonderful atmosphere. We love the added bonus of being able to go in to the shop for a great selection of produce ... We would happily drive to The New Forest (1hr trip) just to visit here :-)

User

My husband and I took a trip to The Cider Pantry for a celebratory lunch on our 4 year anniversary.

The service was perfect - lovely girls providing table service and didn't bother us once our meals arrived - it was obvious everything was great with our food! Great home made food, big serving sizes and reasonably priced.

We then took a trip round to the cider shop. I didn't know what Cider to buy and the lovely lady gave me tasters so I could see what I preferred - medium dry apparently! We bought some Cider and some tasty preserves to take home with us.

Such a gorgeous little place with amazing service and a menu that will have us going back again and again!

User

Lunch with 3 old school friends, we all celebrate our 60th birthdays this year and wanted to visit on recommendation. Excellent food and service by very friendly staff. Just a shame with weather was so up and down, would have to have sat in the pretty garden but indoors was lovely too.

User

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Quality leaf tea, huge fresh scones and ton of clotted cream

User

Ideal for Winter sitting in front of their log fire & in Summer at the back in the main restaurant. Popular for breakfast, lunch or afternoon cream tea or coffee & delicious home baked cake.

A variety of Ciders, relishes & a range of other items are on sale at the little store outside.

Great stop for cyclists & walkers enjoying the scenery & ponies in th New Forest.

User

I loved this place the staff are so friendly and make you feel very welcome. The food was delicious and we even took slice of chocolate cake take away and wow it was the most fluffy and yummy cake we ever had. We will be back there next time for sure would recommend this place to my family and friends.

User

Having been several times before on previous holidays, we made a detour on the way home from Bournemouth for tea and cakes. Excellent as always. Extensive selection of drinks and food in idyllic surroundings.

User

Excellent food. Ham egg and chips the best ham wonderful and a decent portion. Garlic bread two large slabs homemade bread.

User

During our week away from home, my Partner & I stumbled across what can only be described as a Cider lover's dream.

The Cider Pantry, Burley is home to some of the most delicious, scrumptious food I have ever tasted. The staff are very lovely & offer samples of the locally made Cider & inform you of the specials that day.

The Ploughman's consisted of local cheeses, salad, ham, rolls, cider pickle, chutney ...what else do you need? You also get the option of a pint of Cider which is so tasty.

You HAVE to visit!

User

An amazing place to eat...all home cooked food with a great setting x

Food is always delicious

User

We were just a little bit disappointed with our visit for breakfast yesterday. The food was good, best sausages and bacon on a breakfast by far, but the service was not as friendly as normal. 2 of the breakfasts had to go back because they were wrong, but that was quickly dealt with. Personal choice I know, but I would rather not have my scrambled egg on my toast, once it's on there's no getting it all off again, I like my sour dough crunchy! We will be back however.

User

Excellent choice of vegetarian options on the menu. Good value.

User

Lovely setting for a cafe with the added attraction of the cider pressing on site. Not overly impressed with light bite options and on the pricey side too ( £6.50 for a tuna sarnie) but hey New Forest tourist haven equals £££'s. Was overcharged for a sandwich(baguette price) but to be fair when I pointed out the error an apology and a refund

User

Good for an adult luncheith quality ingredients.

Service was a little slow on a busy Winter’s lunch time up friendly and welcoming staff.

Would like to see a childrens’ Menu and not just the SA small appetite.
