The Cookie x Future Perfect presents Seafret + Support TBA
The Cookie, Leicester... Friday 28th September 2018 19:30 / 14+ / £10adv
After a chance encounter at an open mic night just outside of their hometown of Bridlington, East Yorkshire, U.K. in 2011, the sweeping folk duo known as Seafret was born. Guitarist Harry Draper and vocalist Jack Sedman were impressed with each other's performances, and quickly decided to work together as musicians. They lived close to the coast, and the name "Seafret" referenced both the mist that rolls in from the North Sea during the summer, and a pun on a guitar fretboard. In 2014, after gaining some traction online, the duo made the move to London. Leaving their hometown instilled their songwriting with a greater sense of loss, both of the coastline they had grown up with and their respective loved ones. In September of the same year they released their debut EP, Give Me Something. They spent over two years writing music together prior to relocating to London; such a wealth of material allowed them to quickly follow their debut with a second EP at the start of 2015, the aptly titled Oceans. They spent the majority of 2015 touring, including a string of coffee shop appearances where they performed with just an acoustic guitar. All the while they were composing the tracks that would form their debut album, Tell Me It's Real, which saw release in early 2016

Staff were friendly, relax atmosphere and very good night out, hope Sean returns and i hope more people will take the opportunity to have a fantastic night out

User

Went to see Iain Stirling at the cookie last night- loved it! Iain was hilarious. The venue is small which makes the gigs/shows really intimate which I l liked. The staff kept us up to date with when the show was going to start. Drinks are really reasonably priced too!

User

Went to The Cookie Club last night with my husband as a present from my daughter for our joint birthdays, Lucy Porter was brilliant, very popular venue for people of all ages, nice atmosphere and friendly staff, will definitely look forward to going back again.

User

This place is so welcoming to myself and my 12 year old music loving son, we have watched some great gigs there and I really feel that this venue has an includes all policy, it has encourage my some to practice more and one day I'd love to see him doing a set there! Thank u for allowing us to have some fab memories as most venues would not allow this, thank you for investing in the next generation of music lovers

Lovely venue with lots of energy. Was my first time in Leicester and my first time at The Cookie and it was perfect from when I got there to when I left!

Cheers for the great night!

User

I live in Nottingham with really decent venues and gigs, but how I loved this one! Came solo to watch She Drew The Gun and Cabbage - clearly was not disappointed! Sound and space are great. And you do Hop House 13. Win win.

User

Great venue to go and see bands at, playing there was a lot of fun and I'll definitely look forward to playing there in the future!

And to top it all off, drinks are cheap!

User

Great sound. Very accommodating for bands. Patient. Professional. Air conditioning actually works really well. Friendly. Cool vibe on each of the three floors including then roof balcony area. Wicked venue... :)

User

Fantastic venue - reminds me of seeing bands at the Charlotte in the early 90s. Hot, sweaty and loud. Great selection of beers and nice staff.

User

Excellent venue for a comedy gig, offering the perfect blend of friendly, helpful staff, a delicious & exciting drinks menu & a convenient location in the City Centre. Can't wait to go back. Xx

User

Definitely one of my favourite UK music venues! Without whom I wouldn't have found Casino Empire! Great venue, friendly staff and top sounds for live music! See you all again soon

User

Went to see angelos & barry who were hilarious. Seating was a bit poor as you are all on the same level & cant see for the person in front. Toilet queue was horendous but no diff to any other live venue. A big shout out for the barman who had to put up with cakegate on the night, you did have a sense of humour in the end. Great night overall.

User

Great venue, drinks are reasonably priced and the sound quality is great. Just wished they had air conditioning or at least turned them on when it gets really HOT! And it does very quickly!!

User

Great venue good music been to see ibisco and stop that train there both good upcoming bands beware buying pints downstairs though its in plastic glasses and is not a full pint

User

Enjoyed being at the Cookie Club, it was great venue to see the Hurray and the Riff Raff yesterday evening :)

User

Too hot. No ventilation. Cant see the stage unless youre packed in at the front. Watching Moose Blood here was unbearable last week. The novelty of watching a big or up-and-coming band in a tiny venue lasted for about half a second.

User

Because we were apparently talking we weren’t allowed in to listen to the main act #bullshite
