The Glebe And Mallory Park Fisheries

About The Glebe And Mallory Park Fisheries

Mallory Park Fisheries is often described as a Jewel in the Leicestershire landscape. On our two sites we have a total of 12 fishing lakes and over a dozen wildlife ponds. The four fishing lakes that are in and around the Mallory Park race circuit are complemented by a further eight lakes at the Glebe, which is our 36 acre showcase site located just a couple of miles up the road from Mallory Park. The Glebe is a haven for wildlife and its fishing has been described as the best in England.

Seven of the lakes at the Glebe hold a gold accreditation from the Fisheries Accreditation Scheme. This accreditation recognises the high standards that we maintain, both in the quality of our fish and in all aspects of their environment.

We are a members only club, with no day tickets, and we provide a secure and peaceful environment for you to see which of our many species of fish you can catch. Most of the lakes at the Glebe are single bank fishing and, whether you prefer big fish or lots of fish, we have waters that will keep you smiling all day.

Our season runs from 1st June until 31st March and throughout that time we hold a number of very popular weekly matches. We also host a range of annual national events, such as the ACA Masters, the Schools National, and Fishathon, all of which allow you to rub shoulders with some of the country's angling legends.

Please use this facebook page to find out more about what we offer and I hope to be welcoming you to our wonderful fishery in the near future.

ANGLING TRUST MASTERS SATURDAY 18th AUGUST 2018
Good morning all,
Unfortunately, this prestigious event clashes with the Division 1 National so some of the teams who usually fish the Angling Trust Masters cannot enter a team this year.
... Fishery Owner & Angling Trust Ambassador Roy Marlow is looking for teams of 6 or individuals to join us at The Glebe. All we ask is that you are current members of the Angling Trust & you bring a raffle prize with you to fund the BBQ after the match.
At the time of writing, we have 6 teams of 6 entered along with 4 individuals. We have capped this event to 72 that will give us 12 teams of 6.
If you would like to enter a team then please post your team name, team captain along with the 5 other members of your team below. We will then get back to you via this thread to confirm your entry.
If you would like to fish as an individual this is also not a problem as we will put you in a team provided we have multiples of 6. If not you can still fish this event as an individual. Just post your name below.
But you will need to be quick as we only have room for 32 more anglers. So this will be managed on a first come, first served basis. We will send you a confirmation via your individual posts below with a closing date of this Friday night 10th August.
Individual & team pools payable on the day. On site catering will be available serving breakfast & hot & cold drinks. With a free BBQ post match.
Thank you.

Good Evening All,
We had 40 members attend the latest summer league, yet again expertly supervised by the one & only David Dippy Ward.
Today's match winner was the in form Darren Dodd (pictured) from peg 83 on lake 5. Darren started short on 6mm pellets then switched to his margins catching steadily on pellets to put together a superb 295lb 8oz despite being knocked back from 309lb 6oz but was still good enough for another personal best.
... Greg Cooper delivered another superb performance this time from peg 5 on lake 1 weighing 222lb 11oz catching mostly down his right margin on hard pellets. Not far behind was Andy Kinder who weighed 220lb 10oz from peg 25 on lake 1 mainly on the pole with pellets & maggots.
Terry Styles won the silverfish prize with a superb 54lb 5oz of silvers from peg 28 on lake 1.
The next summer league match takes place on Sunday, 19th August & don't forget we then have a members match on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th August. As always, all members are very welcome.

AUGUST UPDATE & LATEST ITINERARY
Busy, Busy, Busy We are halfway through the busiest week of the summer at The Glebe. The fishery has been overrun by members of the British Army, putting in plenty of practice before their big match at the end of the week.
... All of the lakes are still fishing fantastically well, lots of people have beaten their personal best. In a match last Saturday, club regular Darren Dodd smashed his personal best with a weight of 210 lbs from Pool 6, sadly the anglers either side of him both beat him...so cruel, so very cruel.
Once this week is over, things will return to normal, in fact next week EVERY LAKE is available for pleasure fishing on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, you'll be spoilt for choice.
We've had a problem with our stock pond at the end of Pool 7. It is covered in duckweed, which is stopping light entering the water, endangering the lives of the fish. My only solution was to let some of the water out into Pool 6, so now there's a bit of duckweed on there too. I'm hoping that the ducks and fish will eat it. but if they don't then I'll have to find another solution.

Hi Everyone,
The fishing has been fantastic on all of the pools, I hope you have been putting on your sun cream. I have attached the latest Itinerary, however please also keep an eye on the notice board for any late changes.
... As I’ve explained many times before, the outside events not only bring in a lot of much needed money, the participating anglers also help to feed our fish. To give you an idea of how much food our fish need at these temperatures it works out at around 3% of the total bio mass of fish per day in food. As an example 10,000lbs of fish need 300lbs of food per day Unfortunately baits such as sweetcorn are mostly water, they have very little food value so don’t help a great deal in the equation. It’s plainly obvious that on days when we only have a handful of members fishing, the fish would starve if I didn’t supplement their food supply.
SPECIAL THANKS You will note that our toilet block has had a spring clean. This work was done by one of our members Don Sole. Very special thanks to Don for taking on this most onerous and difficult task.
MACMILLAN CHARITY
Today I have given my daughter Joe the final takings from our Macmillan charity day to bank. Over the last few weeks we have still had the odd donation that adds to the total. I must say it has been another monumental effort from everyone and the present total is a magnificent £1680.00. In addition to this we have had some of our corporate customers also collecting money for this charity, I haven’t actual figures but I understand with gift aid and companies matching donations the figure is again in the thousands of pounds. Everyone who donated has my sincere thanks.
We started the Glebe complex way back in 1996, since that time we have hosted many charity events. Although I don’t have the exact figure, I understand that in total for all the charities, anglers here at the Glebe have raised over £100,000. It clearly demonstrates that anglers are a caring, generous group of people, so once again sincere thanks to everyone who has helped in so many ways.

We had 42 members attend the latest members match at The Glebe. So we spread out with 17 on lake 1, 5 on lake 4, 6 on lake 5 & 2 sections of 7 on lakes 6 & 7.
With man in form, Dave Dippy Ward drawing peg 1, could he make it back to back match wins. Well that was all the talk in the marquee at the post draw strategisation meeting. Roy did the right thing & managed expectations by giving him a target to get 2nd in section. Unfortunately, things did not work out for Dippy today.... But he will be back.
One man who did deliver from a good draw was Maver/Marukyu star Andy Kinder who put together 240lb 8oz from peg 66 on lake 4, catching on the feeder before switching to his right margin. Not far behind was Stu “Never on a bad peg/Heron”Johnstone who put together 237lb 6oz from peg 6 on lake 1, catching most of his fish on top kit plus 1 to his right margin on hard pellets. We also had 2 other 200lb weights from Dom Lanni with 227lb 11oz from peg 21 & Greg Cooper with 216lb 5oz from peg 8, both on lake 1. Andy Boffin was ounces away from 200lb with a superb 199lb 2oz from peg 85 on lake 5.
Well done to Rob Winter for winning the silvers with 37lb 13oz.
Here are the weigh sheets from today along with pictures of Andy Kinder & The Heron.
We look forward to welcoming all members who wish to join us on the next match in two weeks time, Sunday 5th August.

DIPPY WARD FINALLY WINS A MATCH !
Good Evening Everyone,
News just in from Shearsby Valley as follows :-
... “Todays Shearsby valley master was on hurricane well done to dagger ward for winning the match and qualifying for the final. 1st Dagger ward on peg 15 with 127lb 8oz 2nd Paul Hardy on peg 18 with 93lb 2oz 3rd luke key on peg 21 with 83lb”
To prove it, here is a photo taken of Dippy with part of his catch from today.
Earlier today just behind peg 68 on lake 4, we did hold an impromptu committee meeting & one of the agenda items was Dippy Wards form. We critiqued his performance a week last Saturday at Friezlands & at Packington last Sunday & we concluded his efforts both days left a lot to be desired. Anyway, today’s performance means the pressure is off for the moment. Well until tomorrow as it’s our members match & Dippy runs this & todays performance shows what he can do if he can just turn up & fish. Please remember, if you draw next to Dippy tomorrow, please check on him every 30 minutes. Thanks in advance.
Well done today Mr Ward.

Dear All,
Man on fire Gaz Wood fished a match on lake 4 at The Glebe yesterday & skilfully caught & landed this top kit. He would love to get this back to the owner. It’s certainly not Dippy Wards as his top kits are a right mess.
... Please feel free to tag & share this so we can get this back to the owner with help from Gaz Wood :-
I fished this top kit out of the far bank of Pool 4 at the Glebe yesterday. Dont know what pole its from but would like to get it back to the owner. Easy recognisable as it has a very unusual bush set up at the tip. If its yours, get in touch and we'll find a way of returning it. 🎣

Good Evening Everyone,
Just a quick reminder that on the following two Wednesdays there are big matches at The Glebe.
Tomorrow's match (July 18th) has less entries than the organizers envisaged, so Pools 2 & 3 will now be available to members...sorry for such short notice, we only heard this afternoon.
... The members evening match scheduled for tomorrow (July 18th) will now take place on Thursday July 19th.
There is also a big match scheduled for next Wednesday (July 25th). so in this case the members evening match, this has been moved to Tuesday July 24th.

Good Evening All,
Earlier today we had 39 members attend the latest summer series in the expert hands of Mr Dave “ Dippy” Ward.
So this meant that everyone had some room. The weather today was gorgeous but far from ideal fishing conditions with the wind slightly easterly & bright sunshine.
... However, The Glebe yet again delivered & everyone weighed in so hope you all had a great day.
We had 26 weights in excess of 100lb. Today’s silver fish prize winner was Terry “Pig Killer” Crowden who weighed 50lb 2oz skimmers from peg 91 on lake 6.
The top 4 weights today ranged from 178lb to 183lb. So it made for a great contest. In 4th place was Barry “The Bomber” Cocks (Bennett’s of Mountsorrel) who committed to his bomb & pellet that resulted in a fine 178lb from peg 86 on lake 6. In 3rd place was Greg Cooper (Dynamite Baits) with 181lb 2oz from peg 80 on lake 5.
This meant that Andrew Williams (Marukyu) having drawn the best feeder peg on The Glebe in the form of peg 22 on lake 1 managed 2nd with 182lb 3oz with his good mate Andy Boffin (Marukyu) delivering a pellet shallow masterclass from peg 106 on lake 7 to win the match with 183lb.
Here are todays weigh sheets along with a picture of the top 2. Next members match is Sunday, 22nd July all members are very welcome just make sure you are paid on with Mr Ward by 08:45hrs in the marquee.

Dear Members
The weather has been brilliant these last few weeks. The downside for some it has been too hot. The fishing however has been brilliant.
What is obvious is that we have had Easterly winds, this does make a huge difference because it is not our prevailing wind.
... With the high temperatures and loads of sunshine on most days the best swims will be with the ones where the wind is blowing into the banks.
I am seeing anglers struggling especially on pool 3, fishing the pegs up by the boards with the wind off their back. This is not a good idea if you want to catch loads.
If you are not sure of the best swims just ring me, it's not a problem.
Rearing Pond Updates.
We finally repaired the leeks on the new rearing pond next to the generator near pools 6&7.
Land drains that we didn't know existed were the problem. We now have a fantastic rearing pool and last Thursday 1,500 three inch carp from Rodbaston Aquacutural college went into their new home.
These are the same strain that we have had for several years with many being the magnificent fully scaled carp that we already have.
The bottom rearing pond also is full of fast growing fish that are growing daily in the high water temperatures.
Itinerary
Please keep an eye on the notice board for any changes. Dear Members, attached an amended itinerary.,

GOLDEN REEL QUALIFIER RESULTS
On Saturday, 30th June we had 86 anglers fishing the latest Golden Reel Qualifier at The Glebe. A big thanks must go to Phil Briscoe, Roy Marlow, Ross Nursey, Jason Weston & the on site caterers who ensured everything went smoothly.
With bright sunshine & a strong easterly wind, this meant tricky fishing conditions. However we still saw 3 weights in excess of 200lb.
... The match winner & booking a place in the grand Golden Reel final at Larford is Jake Kings (pictured) who put together 227lb 15oz from peg 86 on lake 6. With Jack Harness taking 2nd with 209lb 13oz from peg 129 on lake 9. Third today was Sam Collett with 206lb 2oz from peg 1 on lake 1.
Please see 18 photos on the earlier post for the weigh sheets along with some action shots taken by Jason Weston.

Good Evening All,
We had 43 members attend the latest summer league match at The Glebe with Mr Dippy Ward yet again doing an excellent job of organising & running this. However, if you look at his result today from peg 95 on lake 6, people are starting to ask if this is impacting on his fishing performances. The committee have called an extraordinary meeting this evening & have concluded this must be the case so we will make sure he gets help. However, Mr Ward can confirm the... final will be held on Sunday, 16th September with members being required to fish a minimum 5 of the 8 rounds.
Conditions today whilst not ideal for fishing, saw lots of cruising fish but they proved hard to catch for most except for Dynamite Baits backed Greg Cooper (pictured) who fished a great match from peg 88 on lake 6 to put together an impressive 240lb 2oz catching on the feeder before switching to the long pole shallow & then his margins.
We also had some great back up weights today with Gordon Parker weighing 184lb 13oz from peg 4 on lake 1, Dom Lanni with 183lb 5oz from peg 104 on lake 7. Plus numerous pther weights between 150lb to 181lb. In fact 29 out of 43 members weighed over 100lb each !
Here are the weigh sheets from today. Next summer league match takes place on Sunday, 8th July.
Please don’t forget that this Wednesday sees the second round of the UK Champs on The Glebe. So the usual evening match will be held this Thursday, 28th June.

Lake Bookings for July 2018
Dear Members,
It has been a great start to our season.
... We have had, and still have a few problems with the bottom car park but these are being resolved. It's not a simple task, so thanks for your understanding. The car park is perfectly safe but not finished.
The fishing has been outstanding on every lake, pool 9 is proving to be fantastic and when it matures it will also look great. Shrub planting will take place this autumn.
Sincere thanks to everyone who has donated to this lake, it has cost far more than the original budget but it is excellent.
We have received a considerable donation from one of our members Harry Warren, in addition to the platform plaques we will have a lake name plaque. I plan to have an official presentation to Harry later in the year. From then on the lake will be called “Harrys”
The wild life continues to flourish, several rare species have been sighted including a Golden Orial. The water Vole population is down nationally. But we are still seeing a few around.
Predators are always a problem, please report any sightings of Cormorants and Mink (Not Herons)
Below is the Itinerary for the next few weeks. Please keep an eye on the notice board for any updates or changes. Please plan your trips accordingly.
There are 3 dates where all of the Glebe will be used for major events. As I always point out without these events we wouldn't have the cash to invest and the fish would starve.
On that note most anglers do not feed enough bait , if you don't feed much you wont catch so much. Also when you finish fishing throw all unused bait in the water not on the bank or in the rushes.
As usual, any questions email or ring me.
Tight lines,
Roy.

FISHERY UPDATE
Its been a great start to our season.
Its been very hard work trying to finish the new Glebe pool 9, it's finished and fishing brilliantly. The grass is slowly growing so please use common sense and keep off it if the ground is wet and boggy.
... The lower car park is still not finished it has been a nightmare caused by a leak from pool 9, it is anticipated that it will be finished by the end of the month.
All of the lakes are fishing very well, if you are not sure where to fish just give me a ring and I will try to help.
WILDLIFE
The Glebe abounds with wildlife, this week we have a confirmed sighting of a Golden Oriole this is possibly Britain's rarest bird. A few years ago my wife Sue also saw one.
Loads of other species some not that common. Please see photo.
Please keep a look out for any predators and phone me if you see any. Cormorants, Mink (not Herons).
SPECIAL THANKS
One of our members has given us some really nice steel lake signs I am afraid I have forgotten his name, but you have my thanks. As you can see from the picture they are positioned at the end of each lake alongside our weigh nets and weigh bars. As you can see from the photo, they look very professional
MAINTENANCE
Keeping the fishery looking good takes a lot of effort and manpower. We haven't a lot of man power but special thanks to Jason The Bike who does a great job with our mowing. Also Ross (Gus) who has multiple titles who's help is invaluable.
NET DIPS
Bio Security is very important. Don't forget to dip your nets on entering the fishery. It only requires one idiot to ruin our great fishery.
Regards,
Roy.

Lovely place to be. Beautiful, well cared for and full of fish and wildlife; rabbits, pheasants, water voles, all kinds of birds and water fowl and the gorgeous resident Irish Setter, Molly.

Just back from the CSSC national at the glebe...what a fantastic venue; I know there's been a few problems the last month or two with the khv, but the fish are in lovely nick, the lakes are all beautifully maintained and one of the best nationals I've fished (and I didn't do particularly well!!). Great venue and if I lived up that neck of the woods I would be joining.

Brilliant day in the sunshine this week at the Glebe, made all the better by the time and knowledge shared with me from the legend Roy Marlow. An absolute gentlemen and a beautiful fishing complex set up to the highest standards. Great day, great place top man Roy. Many thanks
