Wide awake because my head is full of work stuff. Last night exceeded the vision I had for our bonfire celebrations. A big thank you to all who worked their backsides off to get this off the ground. AeroSPARXS for their truly amazing display from Rob and Guy (and the rain stayed away). Celestial Fireworks for their brilliant ground display, the collaboration between you both was awesome (I had goosebumps watching it). Taste Harborough’s Helen for introducing me to som...e amazing people for their food and drink partnerships, so many comments on how good it was to have so many choices from local businesses, lots of people didn’t know you existed. Stewart for his Smiley Chef catering van, great food as always, looking forward to next Saturdays menu. A big shout out and THANK YOU to all the volunteers and members at The Gliding Centre, this could not have happened without your support, to Andy and Simon and all those that worked the bar, The Gliding Cafe Alison, Ellie, Julie and Doug , Terry and Steve for bringing the cadets (great bunch of girls and boys), Peter, Carol, Paul, Paul, Keith, Kirsty, Sydney, Brian, Martin, Tom, Ian, Alan, Hilary, Colin, Amy, Peter, Adam, Lynne, Nigel, Steve, John the list is endless, if I haven’t personally named you my apologies. Celestial Fireworks setting up for today’s display. Please wrap up warm for tonight’s display and try and get here at by 3.00pm. The gates will close at 4.20pm for AeroSPARX to carry out their unique firework display. Children’s rides, real ales, Prosecco, Tin & Tonic and lots of food venues.

Many congratulations to Ellie Youle, Adam Youle and Simon Smith who have passed their Assistant Category Instructors exams this week with the British Gliding Association.

What a day! Absolutely loved it & so much for your money, my instructor (Bruce) was great, gave loads of awesome tips, interesting facts, and had a great laugh. Came away with a found love for gliding & a head full of knowledge! Fully recommend!

The Gliding Centre is a great place to visit, if you are thinking of getting into aviation as a sport or a career you could not do better, a trial flight could be that first BIG STEP into a great hobby or profession.

Just visit, at no cost, have a cup of tea and a chat.

The Sky is not the limit

Son had a gliding experience. Staff and instructors were very friendly and welcoming and facilities were great. He loved it and has made us all want a go! Excellent value, he got a good amount of time up in the air.

My partner and I called in to the cafe today and was made to feel very welcome. Lovely people and very helpful. Thank you.

My husband enjoyed the experience. The club house was lovely and all members of staff extremely pleasant. Highly recommend the place.

I visited the Gliding centre on Friday 6th July for a 1 days course. Which was brilliant, really enjoyed myself. Had 3 winch launches and 1 aero tow all the flights were great, I was able to handle the controls whilst receiving instructions from my instructor Bruce. When I was not flying I was being taught by another highly experienced instructor Rick on how to launch a glider using the winch. By the end of the day I had learnt how to launch a glider safely and a basic knowledge of how the glider works. All in all it was a great day all the staff were very friendly and helpful and I hope I can find time to come back again soon. Jack Hall

I love going out to the Gliding Centre, its a great day out watching all the gliders flying off, and the food in the club house is great. The staff are very friendly too.

Held a group flying event for Hinckley Round Table and it was superb. Great flying and friendly team x

Eastlands JFC had the very best end of season football presentation night. They all enjoyed the fabulous gliding experience and even I got to go up for the shortest and fastest of them all as the rain was setting in. Thanks to all volunteers that looked after us all. You all made us feel so welcome and made every effort to make our experience so enjoyable.

The food for our presentation afterwards was marvellous. Great tasting and the homemade quiche was a hit.

I would thoroughly recommend this friendly, welcoming gliding centre for any social or family event. We hope to see you again one day. Thank you.

Brilliant experience for myself and son

Apart from the gliding, the Flying Pan cafe is the best it has ever been. Excellent and first class food throughout the week. Always a smile, always a first name and unlimited tea and coffee. The standard of the meals from a simple bacon cob to a full meal (beef wellington today) is outstanding. Evening meals? No problem. Cannot say enough about the quality of service - a credit to the Gliding Centre and long may it continue.

The trip itself was brilliant I wanted to stay up there for hours!!! The food in the cafe was great too especially the home made raspberry cheesecake!!! Thanks for making my day special.
