The Grainstore Brewery Tap Description

The largest brewery in the
smallest county

We are extremely proud of our brewing expertise at The Grainstore Brewery.
We endeavor to produce beers that are popular with the drinker, and give very
little problem to the publican, both in the cellar and at the tap.

We have had a last minute change of line up for this Thursday. Sadly Lloyd Griffith is no longer available to open the evening, but he has been replaced by the very special Alan Cochrune!
Award-winning stand up comedian Alun Cochrane has appeared on numerous TV shows including Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Russell Howard’s Good News, Mock The Week, Dave’s One Night Stand, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Have I Got News For You and 8 Out Of 10 Cats. He was featured as series regular ‘Sam’ in the Sky Living sitcom Trying Again, alongside Chris Addison and has appeared in Coronation Street, Boomers and Russell Howard’s Christmas film A Gert Lush Christmas.

Tonight's Episode of Live at the Apollo on BBC2 features the wonderful Angela Barnes who appeared on our stage last season, and next weeks headliner, the equally wonderful Geoff Norcott. Tickets still available from the bar or via the shop on our website.

User

A new season of Comedy opens with a cracking headliner - The Mash Reports' Geoff Norcott. Thursday 20th, tickets available by following the link or from the bar.

User

The New season of live music and comedy starts this Saturday with the rather fab Jet Black.

It's Tuesday. That can only mean one thing...its build a burger night!

User

Fantastic to be back at Newnham Farms, picking hops for the Grainstore Brewery Tap. Despite the tricky season Richard and his team have produced a lovely crop which will be hanging from the roof tomorrow!

User

We are over the moon to be awarded The Good Pub Guide's Own Brew Pub Of The Year for 2019. A huge thank you to all the team that contribute to the on going success of the Grainstore Brewery Tap. This is the 5th time that we have been given this accolade following wins in 2003, 2011, 2013 and 2016. We are genuinely chuffed to bits and without all of the gang we wouldn't have picked up one of those awards. Thanks guys.

User

Our popular monthly quiz returns this Wednesday, book your places now!

User

This years Beer Festival may be over, but Burgers are still on the agenda! Don't forget every Tuesday is Build Your Own Burger Night...

User

A HUGE thank you to all you, the good folk that came along to our 19th Annual Beer Festival this year.
Despite the weather you came in your hundreds, ate, drank, danced and made merry! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, it's hard work for the team but you make it worthwhile.
A massive thank you to all the bands/performers that kept the great vibes going - The Rutland Big Band, Risky Trick, Jordon Poole, Eleni Demetriou, Dirty Rumour, Union Avenue, Pembroke Tennesson ...and Funked Up (with Emma Gant guesting!). Follow them on social media, but more importantly follow them all live, because without you they wouldn't be able to perform. Live music in intimate venues is the grass roots of what they do and so important.
Lastly the biggest thanks to the hardest working team around. It's tough work, it's tiring and sometimes it feels like no matter how hard you work its just not appreciated - it is.
2019 will bring some special anniversarys for us. It will be 25 years since the Grainstore Brewery Tap opened its doors, it will be the 20th Annual Beer Festival and it will also be the 5th Anniversary under the current stewardship. We intend to make next years Festival a VERY special one and hope you will join us.

User

Went here with friends yesterday morning (Sunday 18th February) for a drink before catching a train home from Grantham.

A good selection of their own real ales & ciders.

We didn't have anything to eat but the breakfasts being served look great and a scan of the menu on the table looked extensive.

User

Well recommend doing a brewery trip, Rory the brewer is a good laugh and will keep you on your toes. If you can, I would recommend the Gold trip, Well worth the money.

User

We were booked in for the brewery tour before heading in to the actual pub itself. The tour wasn't superb and very informative and presented by a friendly member of staff.

The pub is very traditional and sells ales that are brewed on the premises. The food is tasty and good value for money; there is always entertainment innand festivals at different times throughout the year.

Highly recommended.

User

We came out from Stevenage to experience top beers beautifully kept and served by friendly professional staff - we shall return!

User

Top night, great atmosphere, live band, 80+ beers....busy as but bar staff were polite and great. The ale gurus were knowledgeable and very helpful. Although along way to travel 240 mile round trip....looking forward to next years

User

Ok its my local, but 15 real ales brewed on site, great food, regular bands and entertainment. What's not to like. If you think lager is for girls, this is your pub

User

Nice place , great brewery tour. Thank you very much. Will come back again

User

My husband fell in love with the Grainstore Cider when we were visiting Oakham over Christmas. So much so that we decided to serve it at our wedding. We just wanted to say a massive thank you to Wayne, Ben, and the guys for helping us organize delivery for our special day. Our guests from the UK and US all enjoyed the Cider. Thanks again!

Cheers,

Steph and Tris

Lunch for 2 on a Thursday. Food was fantasic as always. Staff were very helpful and service was fantasic. 1050 is still one of the best pints I have had.

User

Great selection of ales - bought a stache to take back up North. Love the 1050 - aka the old Ruddles County by another name. Lovely helpful staff too. Cheers 🍻🍻

User

Great food, not the usual run of the mill pub, loved that we were allowed to take the dogs in. A very good range of ales AND, they let you taste first! Top marks.

User

Great beer, many beers are only brewed in batches so available for short time only. . Good food. Some of it sourced locally from Hambleton bakery and deli. Very busy vibrant atmosphere. Dogs welcome. Chatty customer's and helpful staff. We feel this is our local from now on. Well worth the taxi fare home!

User

Great beer, great food and great service. Will definitely be going back.

User

Food is lovely home cooked food. We got 2 for 1 which was brilliant steak and gammon for price of one meal....staff always polite and helpful nothing is too much trouble and they make you feel very comfortable. We love it here whether it is to have breakfast at weekend or a nice relaxing meal.

User

Fantastic food lovely atmosphere very friendly staff and oh yes the gins good too!! Definitely go back

User

Excellent place to visit. Right next to Oakham Railway Station in an old Goods Shed. Has a range of Cask Grainstore Beers on in excellent Condition. Also does good food at lunchtimes. Highly recommend.

User

Excellent food and superb beer, what more can I say?

User

Booked evening meal and was keen to check out their own beers. We were blown away by the choice of beers, quality of food, great atmosphere, friendliness of locals. What a star place. Want to move to Oakham!

Only disappointment was I was not able to buy any beer in boxes as they were too busy to get them prepared and we had to leave early next day. Would have loved to take 2 or 3 brews back for my Easter bash at home. Hope we get chance to go back again.
