We only wish we lived nearer to Derby so that we could visit more often. It is a lovely place with both excellent staff and food. Whenever we come shopping we always come here and wouldn't go anywhere else. X

Nice little tea room in the centre of Derby, home made cakes and food, the leek and potato soup was delicious with proper granary bread.. plenty of room around the tables and back ground music...toilets are spotless to.

Nestled away down Sadler Gate is the picturesque café, The Kitchen. At first impression, it looks as though it belongs more in a small Peak District village rather than amongst the ‘hustle and bustle’ of Derby City Centre, however I’m glad it is! The interior is a clever mix of shabby chic and that home we all wish we had, it is the perfect place to sit back, drink a cuppa tea and watch the world go by. And as you sit back, you may find yourself leaning to one side, admittedly, this is probably due to one of the seat legs being shorter than the rest, but this only adds to the character and charm. The food is fantastic; the menu is filled with familiar dishes, but with ‘The Kitchen’ twist. Once ordered, food and drinks arrive promptly and always served with a smile :), even at busy time, which is amazing! (I think they must be employing magicians). Once you think your full and can have no more, you catch a glimpse of the cake selection, and quickly change your mind. Whether you want a quick breakfast, a late lunch or just a break to rest your feet, this is the place to go. It is a wonderful little cafe, run and managed by wonderful people. When you visit, you will not be disappointed. However, sadly, the one disappointment I do have…is that I can’t be there more often! Best Wishes, George

Lovely friendly staff,great poached eggs on toast for my breakfast

I visited today with a friend for brunch and I will be visiting again. The perfect poached eggs, bacon, hollandaise sauce and granary toast looked fantastic and was delicious. It being served on a slate was a nice little touch. The tea is quality, even the little bottle the milk was served in was delightful on the eyes. I also loved the atmosphere and the interior is quirky and comforting. Definitely somewhere I'm going to visit again. Thank you for the lovely service and the pleasant experience.

Had another lovely trip to The Kitchen today, staff very friendly and helpful as always, I tried out the new breakfast flatbread with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce, definitely recommend it, it was very nice!

Had a lovely vegetarian breakfast here with friends. All the food was lovely- the staff were very friendly and it was a great cup of tea!

Came today for lunch with my mum for first time, loved it great food and speedy service will be back again!

Called in with family after ice skating. All had the wood fired pizzas and a child's chicken nuggets which was cooked especially for youngest even though that menu had stopped. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. A cake, candle and happy birthday cake were also delivered to the table as a surprise after hearing we were celebrating. Fantastic food and service we will be back

Amazing meal last night have been for breakfast here a few times which has always been amazing. Customer service & quality of food is second to none a lovely chilled atmosphere will definitely be back for a evening meal here again thank to all the staff at The Kitchen xx

Truly delicious pizza! A great selection of evening meals, it all sounded delicious so we will definitely go back. The staff were very warm and friendly on a very very cold night!
