About The Larder On Goosegate
The Larder on Goosegate restaurant, Hockley, Nottingham
The Larder On Goosegate Description
Since opening in 2007, The Larder has earned a reputation as one of Nottingham's best independent restaurants. Our cooking style is best described as British and European, with a daily changing menu based around excellent seasonal produce. We are housed in the beautiful Grade 2 listed building that once was home to Jesse Boot's first apothecary and many original architectural features remain. We are located in Hockley, just a few minutes from Market Square, the centre of the city.

Went for bottomless brunch today. Food and service were excellent. Will definitely be back
Very nice afternoon tea. I would recommend for quality and quantity.
The restaurant was recommended by a friend, who wasn't wrong !!!
The food - great, you gotta try the Spider steak :)
The team - Awesome, nothing was too much trouble.
The restaurant - Brilliant, music was excellent.
All well worth the visit and we felt great value for money.
Just leave your self some time to find it, next door to the charity shop and up the stairs, lol :)
Really lovely. Great food and service. I'll come again.
No question. Hidden gem. Great service. Great food. Great prices.
My husband booked this for my Birthday and we couldn't fault it one bit, the food was fabulous and the atmosphere equally as good, we really enjoyed our night.
Lovely, helpful staff and possibly the best steak I've ever tasted. A simple "have you got any horseradish" lead to the kitchen making some up fresh - super!
Love this restaurant.
Stands out amongst all the chains of mediocre restaurants in Nottingham.
The staff are attentive, the food is excellent and the environment is cosy and welcoming.
Great staff , great atmosphere, fantastic food .
Imho one of the top restaurants in Nottingham.
Will be visiting again soon .
Food is very tasty! Will be back for sure!
Fantastic Christmas meal today- great service, great food, great afternoon! Food was amazing especially the starters, thanks for an amazing afternoon!
Best steak I’ve ever eaten. Cooked perfectly. Great setting and nice staff.
So close to being really good but... Food was excellent, front of house staff tried hard to please. Lack of direction meant having to ask rather than being offered. Drinks, bill, coats. Could have been waiting now if we hadn't chased. Just a bit of thought would turn good into great.
My 65th birthday with friends and family. Food and service were excellent - made a great birthday meal for me and all our group. Thank you
Great food nice to have some different options
lovely setting
Has a lovely setting and location, and the staff were lovely. The only negative was the food. The meat was cooked to perfection, but tasted really bland which was a shame. Maybe it was the selection or menu that evening otherwise nice resturant.
We visited as part of a 70th birthday celebration. My starter (salmon) was perfect but my main (flat iron steak) completely let the experience down. My colleague and I bought had the steak. Both came out cold. Mine looked pale (it resembled a tuna steak in colouring which looked strange) I asked for mine to be served rare. When the second steaks came out mine had actually been cut down the middle to show a little pinkness inside but still not properly rare. If the chef isn't confident about cooking meat ... This is worrying. To cut my second steak? Unless of course it was the same steak??? However I ate it as at this point everyone else had finished and we were very hungry. I am very disappointed with my visit as we were lead to believe the chef had a Michelin star. I prefer cuts of meat with flavour (rib eye, bavette). The restaurant did refund my meal but if it's a decent steak you want in Nottingham. Then go to French living.
The food was very nice but the service was terrible. They managed to spill drinks over us and drop dirty cutlery on to us as well. Unable to manage medium size tables as was left for 20 minutes at the beginning of the meal with out being offered drinks or anything in a very hot restaurant. Such a shame that good chefs are being let down by front of house.
