User

Lovely friendly pub, we come here often, either walk here or call in on bike. Always welcome with the dog, enjoy a few pints and a roll while watching the rugby. Have eaten here and always enjoyed our meal. Great service and great staff. :-)

User

User

First time visiting the area as my son and his family have just moved from down south to Ibstock. Great place, beautiful location and food excellent, service great too. Will definately be returning

User

First time coming here tonight food was beautiful and the staff was very friendly will definitely be returning ’┐Į

User

Despite some slightly quirky rules (no dogs in the bar, food service starts in the conservatory before the dining room) this is a friendly pub with excellently kept ales and a really good kitchen. I'm always cheered when I see a relatively sparse menu, because I reckon that at least some of it will be fresh rather than ex-freezer. I had the best Gammon steak I can remember, after an interesting starter and wasn't too stuffed to enjoy a handmade sweet course.

User

Cracking pub and beer. Would definitely be visiting again. Thank you ’┐Į

User

Bad ass fish & chips! Best around by far! Very impressed!

User

been loads of times and always had a great meal

User

Lovely evening for my partners parents wedding anniversary. A few little niggles but nothing that would put me off from returning. All in all we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere until the end of the evening with a rather large party seated right next to us and allowing the use of some tasteful language.

Would definitely return at a push but may avoid the Aldi camembert that's on its last day of life... thanks.

User

Our fourth attempt at getting food on a Sunday evening today... 6.05pm told - with a smirk, as waitress walked by with food - that was the last food order.... Not an ŌĆśIŌĆÖm sorryŌĆÖ, apology nothing, she just walked off with her colleague (advertised as serving until 9pm) So, over the four attempts, over approximately 8 weeks ranging from 6.05pm to 8pm ish - turned away every time. ’┐Į WeŌĆÖre now sat in The Cock at Sibson, which as I look around, has at least 25+ diners and having our yummy steaks... as locals, I know where IŌĆÖll be recommending in future

User

Worst food ever. Not cooked on site. Just microwaved readymeal as admitted by waitress.

User

Worse meal we have ever had! A Saturday and they only had 3 fillet steaks! What we ordered didnŌĆÖt materialise, one of the party was sick after one mouthful. Dreadful will not be returning

User

Our 2nd time visiting today and we were really disappointed. Lady behind the bar was very unwelcoming and told my husband that children were not allowed in the bar and told them all to sit in the conservatory. It was a saturday afternoon. Not late night. If we were told this before we had purchased our drinks we would of left and gone to a more friendly local pub, like the Belper at Newton Burgoland, The Globe in Snarestone or The Odd House in Snarestone. All within a short distance and much more 'family friendly' unlike The Rising sun that promotes itself as this but we have experienced other wise. Shame.
