Went to the stags head last night with my dad and sister. I have been there a few times now and always have a lovely meal, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. My dad wanted a red bull and the girl behind the bar didn't think she had any but insisted she went down the cellar to check for him. He was very happpy when she came back with some. Would highly recommend the stags head its one of my favourite places to eat, it doesn't matter who is working on my visits they are also nice.

We held a private function here recently. The staff were very professional from start to finish. The food was great, the room was perfect (well kept and decorated) and the outdoor area is brilliant for guests who smoke but still want to be part of the party. I would highly recommend this venue as a perfect old English country pub.

User

Visited The Stag for an early evening dinner on Saturday, there’s was six of us although, two were under four, we found both the service and the food to be excellent, definitely recommend The Stag to friends and colleagues.

User

Very good meal , great service and good value overall

User

Sooo friendly and the food is wonderful. I'm lactose intolerant so to find an entire and very tasty menu for me to choose from was a very unusual and welcome find. The chef even adapted a potato dish for me too. Thank you!

User

Planning a wake for a much loved family member is a struggle . We chose the Stags Head for its handy location and its excellent reputation . Kelly, our event organizer made the whole planning process as warm and easy as it could be. Kudos to her and the professional approach taken by all staff members. We know our upcoming gathering of friends and family will be well cared for. Additionally, the meal we had that evening was first rate and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

User

My self, family and friends came in on a saddened and emotional day, but you guys were great, so inviting and welcoming to all, the bar service was quick and professional! The Buffett that was laid on for us all was amazing! Your staff were so understanding of the situation and made the afternoon such a lovely place to have the wake of our beloved Jimbo. Thank you guys once again for your hospitality. Great service all round!

User

Just had a fantastic lunch. Steak pie is the best I have ever had! Service was excellent and a fantastic place. We will be back :)

User

Great find, good food very gluten free and vegetarian friendly so very good for my party. Add friendly service and good cask ale what more could you need.

See it is dog friendly too so sound like a good excuse for a walk from Wollaston when the weathers improves.

User

User

Amazing food and amazing service. Lovely place to eat and I highly recommend it!

User

I find myself torn because the food was good and the waitstaff were good. The evening itself was lovely; a gathering of 11 friends getting together to celebrate a birthday - lovely evening.

When we had all sat down, it was announced that our mains were ready, even though we were told by someone on the phone who took our deposit and our mains orders that we could order starters. This was resolved, but it was a little awkward and we all felt a bit guilty about how it was resolved.

The party of 11 should have been 13, we phoned ahead in plenty of time so our table was set for 11 and 11 mains were cooked. They still kept the 13 person deposit. A bit low given the start of the evening. Someone (I think it was the manager) came over and explained that it was stipulated at the time of booking that it was written on their menu, therefore they can’t deduct the £10. But why? We ordered starters, puds and booze on top of the mains we pre-ordered, so they did very well out of us last night. They also charged £3.90 for a lime and soda!

There have been other restaurants I’ve been to for birthdays where they’ve given the birthday person a free dessert!

However, the birthday girl did enjoy herself and they did put sparklers in her cake and started ‘happy birthday’ which was a nice touch. Just a shame about the deposit and the awkwardness about the mains at the start.

User

Can't complain about the food but the service was very slow. When we arrived, we were the third table in the restaurant so I was surprised as to why it took so long for the food to come. We were given dessert menus but unfortunately had to ask for our order to be taken because nobody came to ask us what we wanted.

User

Had Sunday lunch on 25th September 2016. I had the chicken and chorizo pate which was nice but the melba toast was thinner than a wafer and on 4 tiny triangles at a cost of £5.95 very over priced. I then had the Sunday lunch which was £10.95 and an absolute rip off. The veg consisted of diced boiled carrot turnip and parsnip and only 1 serving spoon mixed the roast potatoes were deep fried to re heat them shocking. I will not be coming back and time soon !!! Go 2 mins down the road to the Miller for a fraction of the price
