Our thoughts go out to the Kitchener family today, for the loss of their husband and father. One of our favourite regular customers Billie Kitchener. A great guy with a brilliant sense of humour. Taken too soon! Rest in peace ... From all of us at The Star Inn 1744

oh my goodness, the staff, the service, the food --- I had a problem with eating due to having a tooth out --- they were so nice, nothing was too much trouble -- the portions of food were huge ! I am going to go back with my partner, because I want to experience the whole food experience. I had to choose soft foods, so if you would like to offer me a voucher to come, I will gladly try out a steak, oh the smell of cooked steak was supreme --- the Eton Mess looked like it was to die for -- such a pleasant place to be in

User

had a great meal there, staff were great and service was quick. Every time we have visitors from out of town we always go there .

Well fitted and equipped rooms, a lovely menu, and the best staff you could have. Can’t wait to return

User

We recently stayed here for 1 night after a day at Leicester races.

A lovely place in a lovely location, Very nice rooms. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the food was really good.

Would definitely return 😊👍

We had an excellent Christmas meal here. We were given small complementary pre-starters which were relish. The real starter, smoked salmon, was fabulous and we were entertained by a magician who was very convincing! The mains , both turkey, were lovely. I really liked how, on the plate, we just had slices of meat ( my husband had pigs in blankets but I’m GF) and a few roast potatoes. The greens came in separate dishes which meant you could help yourself to how much you wanted rather than it being piled high on your plate. Unfortunately there were no gf puddings but the cheeses were delicious. Between the starter and main we had a Champaign sorbet to cleanse the palette. And to finish a complementary liquor. Would definitely recommend and if we are here next year, go back again for Christmas lunch.

The roast lamb dinner was cooked to perfection and the outside seating area was beautiful and very relaxing...

User

Stayed here last Saturday night, Absolutely fantastic!! couldn't fault the room, the shower in room 1 is amazing, proper 'wake you up' power shower. All the staff were lovely, and even though they had a big party booked in, we were treated as if we were the only guests eating, the food was fantastic, will most definately be returning. 5☆+ from us

User

Stayed for one night after 'escaping' from an awful guest house in a nearby village. From the wonderful driver who rescued us in the inn' s taxi, to the welcoming, friendly staff, excellent restaurant and the beautifully clean and comfortable room our stay was perfect. Set in a pretty village, I highly recommend this lovely inn.

Popped in today for the 1st time, didn't know the little jem existed. Beautiful pub, beautiful village. Look forward to trying the food next time I visit

User

I popped into The Star when I was performing magic at a wedding in the area. Service was first class and the staff took good care of me. If you are seeking a classy yet homely venue in the Leicestershire area, look no further. I will certainly return in the future.

User

Great place to stay this was our fourth time

staff great food great we will be back

User

Staff very helpful and happy

Food not quite what it should be I think a lot pinging has gone on ! Shame nice pub !

User

Food was always good.

However whether you sit in the bar or restaurant it is always so cold. I don't like having to eat a meal with my coat on! The last time we went they gave us a fan heater to keep us warm. We've decided not to eat there anymore I'm afraid.

User

All of the family went for Sunday lunch here and there were only 2 or 3 others in the restaurant. However, we still waited for over 45 minutes for any food to be brought out to us. The waitresses sat behind the curtain laughing and tittering. The food was ok. Hardly any gravy though and the veg left a lot to be desired - rock hard carrots and hard baby sweet corn is not ideal for a Sunday roast. Unfortunately 6 out of the 14 of us were all rather ill with sickness during the evening following the meal so not a good time in general. Also very overpriced for the amount & quality of the food. Won't be eating here again.
