On a beautiful warm and sunny September day I’m feeling those summer vibes so decided it was time to pop my Aperol Spritz Cherry. Until now I have never had one. Like the Negroni I had yesterday I wasn’t expecting for me to like it but again was proved wrong and pleasantly surprised. I’m really enjoying these new flavours and experimenting with new drinks. I love prosecco and the taste really shines through in this drink. As a lover of gin and tonic I also enjoyed the bittern...ess too so a win win. The orange wheel also makes for a prettier drink!! Let’s talk Negroni. Only ever had one once and if I’m honest wasn’t overly impressed. Now you can’t have a gin bar and not have a Negroni on the menu so I decided to have a go. 1 part gin, 1 part Campari, 1 part Vermouth Rosso, plenty of ice and a dehydrated orange slice. I wasn’t sure if the Vermouth was the right one but I actually liked it as I like the taste of cinzano so it had elements of that. Now it is strong and bitter but I am pleasantly surprised. I reckon I could get into them. So I had quite a bit of fruit left over from a bar the other day and I didn’t want to waste it. A bit of googling and I discovered I could actually freeze citrus. Who knew?? Probably everyone but me ha ha but hey! 😂I began by chopping up the lemons and limes into wedges, popped them into a ziplock bag and into the freezer they went. Perfect for when I don’t have any in the house and want to garnish my gin!! I then decided I’d like to have a go at dehydrating some orange slice...s. It was so easy. I sliced them thinly, dried them with kitchen paper and popped them in the oven for 3 hours at 90 degrees turning roughly every 40 mins. I discovered Tarsier gin when recently attending The Gin to my Tonic show in Liverpool. I love Southeast Asian flavours so the thought of having them in one of my favourite drinks excited me. It didn’t disappoint and was full of flavour. The gin was inspired by a backpacking trip and is named after the Philippine tarsier which is one of the smallest primates in the world. With its small stature and big eyes it reflects the brand perfectly. A small batch gin with a big persona...lity. I served mine with lime, a slice of ginger and Fever Tree Indian tonic. I have been looking for something non alcoholic to act as an alternative to our range of gin and tonics and today I discovered @belvoirfruitfarms Juniper tonic. I added the tonic to a Copa glass along with a few juniper berries, a slice of lemon, lots of ice and a straw. It was as close to a gin and tonic you will ever going to get without adding any gin. New arrival alert 🚨 Malfy gin rosa has been getting so much good press over the summer and quite rightly. This gorgeous pink gin is made in Italy using Sicilian pink grapefruit peel and rhubarb. It makes for a deliciously refreshing gin which can be served with a good tonic water and fresh pink grapefruit or be added to prosecco to make a delightful pink fizz.
