we called in for lunch as we on steam train for day out foods was fantasic gunniess was lovley and cold my hubbys pint was good staff very nice the pub its self was lovley and clean will call again if up that way we from keighley west yorkshire xx

food was gorgeous I had the halloumi burger without the bun as I'm GF it was very tasty but the chocolate cheesecake was to die for seriously the best dessert ive had definitely be back place is nice service was excellent

My first visit to eat here with my husband and it won't be our last, I didn't even know the beautiful basement area existed! The ambience was perfect, the food wonderfully presented and tasted delicious, and all very good value for money. I can't decide which I enjoyed the most, my baked halloumi burger with beetroot relish or the chocolate brownie which nearly beat me! I'll certainly recommend this place :-)

INCREDIBLE! Literally the most delicious lamb I have ever eaten and that is saying a lot! The service was amazing, and all the food was beautiful! Highly recommend.

Gentlemanly touch! Doesn't just man the pavement! Bar staff an servers well presented an friendly, always at hand to help!

But pre book they keep a couple tables for walk ins, which is nice but there a popular busy place an these tables aren't free for long if at all after 7pm.

Love eating here with special friends!

EXCELLENT service from the staff .... after initially being told we were too late for food whilst we were enjoying festive drinks with friends ... I explained that my husband needed to eat for diabetic reasons without hesitation he was allowed to order some food .... it goes without saying this was greatfully received and my husband 'perked up' with the food he needed. The food came quickly, was fresh, hot and tasty.

We happened to be in Carlisle one Friday night and called in to see if a table available - no chance. Perhaps a testament of its popularity. called in later for a drink. I like a good hand pulled ale and they offer their local brew loweswater-gold. Not quite on a par with my local @[859222944110254:The Bank Top Brewery Ale House], but a very close second. Great atmosphere and comfy soft sofas, armchairs and chairs. If I'm ever in Carlisle again, this will be my first port of call

Our favourite spot but sadly on our last visit we left feeling disappointed.. My husbands burger was red but and the waiter told us that's how they serve them.. After the meal we were offered a free drink but the meal itself was a disappointment.. Although I would say every meal we have ever had apart from this has been excellent so I'm hoping this was just a bad night although I didn't understand why the waiter didn't just change his meal.. Great atmosphere.. Still our favourite spot.

It was busy when we went in .They were short staffed but the girl was very polite and efficient. Our meal didn't take long as was very nice.

Great place for food in Carlisle with a good selection on the food menu and for drinks. Only downside service can be slow especially on weekends when it's busy.

Enjoyed the meal,very tasty. Not a huge fan of it being served on a wooden board though. Lovely surroundings. Will definitely be back.

Been 3 times for food, first time wow I was really impressed, second time service was very! Slow but food was still good so over looked that, and 3rd time was on wed, both me and my husband got burgers, which were yummy, once we had finished one of the waiters came to take away our plates and asked if we would like to see the dessert menu? Too which we replied yes, and I asked for another drink, but the waiter never came back with either! We waited about 15 mins thinking he mite come back? But by the looks of it he spilled a coffee and must of got side tracked cleaning it up and forgot about my drink and our dessert menu!, shame really xx

Went for lunch and waited an hour for food before having to leave. The waitress was rude and lied about the food coming (when it had clearly not been put through). We waited while everyone else (people who had come in after us) got served their food before us and only for a salad. Such a shame as previously I had enjoyed coming here and the service had been good.
