Thornfield Camping Cabins Description
Four en-suite camping cabins providing, warm comfortable accommodation (with underfloor heating for the cooler months); home from home comforts, within a tranquil rural setting; a real back to nature holiday experience surrounded by woodlands, walks a range of wildlife and extensive rural views.
We are situated only one mile from the nearest public house (The Bridge End Inn) which can be accessed via footpaths of which there is one which starts directly opposite our site. There is a regular bus service to Bridge End and we are only 1 ½ miles from Dalston village centre; along with a train station to access the western Lake District and the City of Carlisle.

We've just returned home after a two night stay in the Pheasant 'Pod'. Absolutely perfect location, we made the most out of the swing ball! Would definitely recommend the hot tub... 100% worth it!! The pizzas from The Bridge End Inn were also amazing!! First time experience 'glamping' and we can't wait to return! Thank you Karen and Andy for everything!
We stayed in the owl pod this weekend and it was perfect! The cabins have everything you need and more, the fine details were amazing. The first night was such a clear sky and perfect for star gazing to! Will definitely be coming back in summer �

We stayed here for two nights as a family of 4. The kids loved and and we did too. The cabins are so cosy and well equipped. We are hoping to return in the future as the scenery is amazing and lots to do in surrounding areas. We have already recommended to family and friends.
We made a super late booking, 3 1/2 hours to booking and late pm arrival. Karen was here to greet us and so friendly and welcoming, as were the rest of the staff. The pods are beautiful, comfy and have everything you need. Hot tubs excellent extra. Fantastic location for the lakes visits. About 1/2 hour to Keswick. Will definitely be staying again.
We have loved our stay here! So close to a lot the lakes have to offer. All staff are really friendly and helpful. The hot tub is amazing and site itself is so quiet and picturesque. We will definitely be coming back and recommending to all family and friends.
My partner and I stayed here for 5 days in June and absolutely fell in love with how peaceful and tranquil it was. The hot tubs are an added bonus. We will definitely be aiming to go back next year and try the new pods!
Lovely cabins located near a pretty village with a couple of pubs & some great walks. Our cabin was immaculate, they are all individually themed, the attention to detail is fantastic. We hired a hot tub, it snowed & was blowing a gale during our visit but it was fantastic. Definitely recommend this place it standard of accommodation is fantastic & represents excellent value for money 💰❤️🐿
Loved our stay at Thornfield Cabins, we were greeted by Karen on arrival and shown to our POD, it was beautiful, had everything we needed for our stay, we were given lots of information about the area and recommendations on where would be best to go with our 10 month old daughter. We were very lucky with the weather it stayed dry for the duration of our stay, we made good use of the fire pit we hired in the evenings to cook on, we could relax outside whilst our daughter slept literally a meter away, it was just perfect. Our stay went far to quickly so we’ve decided to book again for later on in the year. Thank you so much!
Just returned from our 2-night stay and we are gutted that we didn't book for longer. The pods were a good use of space and they were very clean. Karen gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel comfortable. Each pod has information about local pubs and leaflets for places to visit for people of all ages, which helped us to plan our time there. The Pods are in a gorgeous location and we were very pleased with the view each morning. We will definitely be returning as soon as we get the chance xx

Just got back from THE most perfect stay at Thornfield Camping Cabins! We stayed two nights as a little 'mini-moon' after our wedding, just myself and my husband before going off on a family holiday with our son later in the week.
Karen and Andy (and lily the cat!) could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The site is immaculate with incredible attention to detail, everything has been thought of. The pods are outstanding; clean, modern, comfy and cozy. Hot tubs are the perfect added bonus �
We pretty much stayed at the site the entire time, it is so peaceful and stunning. If you are looking for a mini romantic break like us, thats a little bit different, on a small budget but still full of luxury - look no further, just go book now! You will not be disappointed I promise �

Just came back from our 2 night stay and wish we could of stayed longer! The site has some great views and beautiful scenery and is a credit to the owners! Karen was very welcoming and will do all they can to help out. It was nice to get a visit from lily the cat too � The pod itself was one of the best ones we’ve been in. It’s clean, very warm and cosy and the little touches such as the welcome tea/coffee, biscuits and sweets, clean towels and all the cutlery u need go that extra mile. We had 2 decent nights sleep also to the comfortable bed and bedding provided.
We loved the hot tub and it’s just what you need after a days walking!
We would defo recommend the pizzas from the bridge end pub and the owner was nice enough to give us a lift back to the site!
Will hopefully be back in the summer to enjoy the late nights and see more of the lakes! Thank you for a lovely stay! Xxx
It is a great place to stay and the owners are so welcoming and helpful, they can't do enough for you. They can provide everything you need to have a great time and advise where to visit for all age groups. I would come back again and recommend this for a holiday, pods are clean and everything you need is waiting for you on arrival.
If you are looking on here deciding whether or not to book, do it!!! We stayed for 3 nights and had an amazing time from start to finish. The pods are in a beautiful location with stunning views and are FULLY equipped including cutlery, plates, cups, even plastic glasses for the hot tub! Karen and Andrew have thought of everything including games to play, and even a microwave cook book! The pod is spotless clean. We stayed in the Pheasant pod which was the end pod and had a huge amount of land on the side which was great for our little dog to wander around! We also hired the hot tub and a fire pit which were 100% worth it - nothing better than a prosecco in the tub enjoying the views! So as you can gather, we had a fantastic time and will definitely be returning. Thank you to Karen and Andrew for being so welcoming and we hope to see you soon!

Fantastic weekend, friendly helpful hosts, home from home pods, beautiful spot/ scenery. Went with 8 friends to celebrate my birthday, Karen decorated the pod with balloons and lights, lovely touch. Would definitely recommend staying here, hot tubs and fire pit were well used. If you’re are thinking about using this site go on do it, you won’t be disappointed
Fabulous stay in the recently arrived Fox Pod - we stayed for 3 nights with our dog, and we are already thinking about when we can come back again. Comfy bed, little kitchenette with everything you could possibly need - microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and cutlery; an amazing bathroom with a really powerful shower and beautiful surroundings. The pod was so spacious and cosy! We loved sitting out at night with the fire pit going (with a generous supply of wood and kindling!) listening to music and just enjoying the scenery and relaxation. Lovely walks surrounding the pods and such a friendly town centre in Dalston - we went to the Dalston Fryer and the BlueBell Inn which we highly recommend! Not sure Drogo the dog loved the chickens though �. Thanks so much for an amazing stay... we will be back!! Nicole, Adam and Drogo.
Currently staying at Thornfield camping pods for 3 nights with my partner. Lovely little pods with a walk path to all four of the pods. There's somewhere also to park your car which is not to far to carry your luggage to the pods although there is a little carry trolly to help if needed. The pod we choose to stay in was the Pheasant pod which is located at the far end at the top. We have a hot tub which is outside our pod which can be rented out for use. The owners are very friendly and warm welcoming, has friendly cats and dogs. Also has a rooster and chickens which is very entertaining to see in the day time when you come from the city. I would definitely do this again and bring friends to rent out all the pods closer to summer when it's abit warmer.
Back from a wonderful stay in the 'Owl' pod �. The pod was absolutely perfect, everything you need is there. We added on the hot tub option and I'm so glad we did. It was lovely to relax in it in the evening, enjoying the lovely views and peacefulness. Karen and Andrew are perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble and they make you feel so welcome.
