About Timmermans Garden Centre

Timmermans Garden Centre was established in 1989 by the late Joseph and Beryl Timmermans.

Timmermans Garden Centre Description

Husband and wife team, Sophie & Greg Timmermans-Delves have recently completed an ambitious, £500, 000 year-long programme of building works & refurbishment resulting in a total transformation of this long established and respected Nottinghamshire garden centre. The old greenhouses have been demolished and replaced with a new, light & airy, single span building and an extension to the rear now houses a new 100 + seater restaurant.

The centre uses a number of unusual design features to further enhance the visitor experience, such as the gabion style front wall which doubles as a 15 metre long raised planter. Even the checkout is distinctive; constructed from curved gabions with a marble mosaic top. Visitors to the garden centre are greeted by lifesize driftwood horses in the entrance foyer from where they can enter the covered plant hall.

The theme has been continued into the new restaurant, Belle & Joe’s Rustic Kitchen. The interior décor features Cornish bricks, a Farrow & Ball colour scheme, Travertine flooring, waxed wood and tastefully upholstered bench seating running the length of the restaurant. The outdoor seating area is south-facing, with views across the fields and is a real sun-trap. Homemade cakes and freshly baked scones are displayed at the marble topped waitress station whilst visitors can watch their meals being prepared in the open kitchen.

Good evening everyone. Here is tonight's plant of the day.
Agastache 'Little Adder' - Anise hyssop
Beautiful for late summer and Autumn colour, these spires of lilac/blue flowers are also ideal for inspiring pollinating insects. The foliage also has the added bonus of being liquorice scented for those Allsorts fans out there! Loves plenty of sunshine and free draining soil. Priced at £5.99.

Good evening everyone. Here is tonight's plant of the day.
Heathers in variety
Fresh into the centre today, this fantastic collection of heathers in both Erica and Calluna varieties. There is something for everyone in this mix, with Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter flowering types in all shapes and colours. Just be sure to give them acidic soil conditions and plenty of sunlight. Priced at £2.99 each or 4 for £10.

User

Its no wonder that bees and other pollinating insects are drawn to such beautiful things is it. Even I want to jump onto this hibiscus and rub my nose in it!.....Crikey...its also no wonder why im single is it.

User

I only have myself to blame. I should have kept my mouth shut! It’s all cloudy now and the sun has gone 😂😂😂

User

I personally love these beautiful summer mornings. Such a wonderful time of year 🙂

User

Good evening everyone. Here is tonight's plant of the day.
Stokesia laevis - Stokes aster
Fun fact about Stokesia, it is a 'monotypic' plant...meaning it is the only plant in its genus, which is quite a rare occurrence....ok so maybe it wasn't that 'fun' of a fact, but I tried. Luckily It is also a wonderfully pretty late season perennial that bears these marvellous flowers from late summer all the way till the first frosts. Its foliage is evergreen and they thrive in a sunny spot in well drained acidic soil as they will suffer over winter if too damp.

Good evening please find today’s plant of the day from Paul 🙂.
Helenium 'Fuego'
Commonly known as Helens Flower or sneezeweed. This variety of hardy perennial is part of a series of compact, free flowering Heleniums that has been bred in the Netherlands. It has a sturdy, upright habit forming a dense mounded plant which is smothered in long lasting swirling scarlet and golden flowers from Early Summer through into Autumn. Price at £8.99

This year is going very quickly! First delivery of the new season fruit trees arrived this morning 😱.

User

Good evening everyone. Here is tonight's plant of the day.
Erigeron Karvinskianus - Mexican fleabane
Perfect for an informal or cottage garden planting scheme, this clump forming perennial is a great ground cover plant to mingle through borders. Its pretty daisy flowers open out as pure white, soon turning to shades of pink and purple as they age. Prefers a sunny spot in free draining soil. Priced at £4.99.

User

Like people, you don't have to know a plants name, colour, or even their scent to know that they are beautiful....they just are.

User

Good evening everyone. Here is tonight's plant of the day.
Senecio candicans 'Senaw' - Angel wings
I can only apologise to this beautiful little sub-shrub for doing it no justice at all with my photo. Grown not for a flower, of which it does have during the summer, but instead grown for its exquisitely pretty silver foliage that is also softly textured, making for a visual and tactile experience. They require plenty of sunlight, free draining soil and protection from prolonged winter frosts as they aren't completely hardy. They look particularly stunning in patio containers, where their beautiful structure can be truly appreciated.

User

Good evening please find today’s plant of the day from Paul 🙂
Rose 'Charisma'
One of our last batch of roses left to flower is this variety called 'Charisma'. A hybrid tea roses that repeat flowers through summer and into autumn. Also has the feature of being highly fragrant. Some fantastic plants left all in bud and ready to flower at £8.99 each.

User

Our homemade treats are the reason I going running every morning. Our great chef always have something yummy for me to try 😂😂

User

Good evening everyone. Here is tonight's plant of the day, from Paul.
Daphne 'Eternal Fragrance'
This small growing evergreen has the most sumptuous fragrance from these small clusters of white flowers. Ideal for pots or the front of a sunny free draining border. Also has a sister variety called 'Pink fragrance' which has slightly more pink at the bud stage.

We took my 2 year old daughter to see Santa on Sunday afternoon. There was a short queue which moved quickly. She was mesmerised by the winter wonderland and spent ages watching everything. Santa was lovely and chatted away to us and we had the opportunity to take lots of photos. I'd definitely recommend it. We felt it was great value too.

User

We love Timmermans Grotto and Winter Wonderland but we especially love their Santa as he is so personable and engaging. He really made our visit special, asking personal details and interacting with us. My son is 4 and said he wants to see Santa everyday after the positive and memorable encounter.

Highly recommend.

User

We came to see Santa the other day with my little boy it's his first time seeing Santa and he was a little unsure at first but Santa was great! He took his time and talked to both me and my son. By the end of it we even managed a photo with Santa on our own.

I am so impressed with how accommodating Santa was and the effort that has gone into the grotto itself we could have spend ages in there, and the quality present my son received also (which by the way made it even more exciting as he loves elephants and got a hand puppet one) it's well worth a visit and I have told so many of my friends and family already.

User

This is the second year I’ve bought my little girl to visit santa here and this time we came with some friends! I’ve recommended it to lots of them! She absolutely loved it, the grotto was lovely and santa was definitely the real Santa ! he took lots of time talking to my daughter and she was thrilled with her visit and her present! A lovely garden centre, the cafe was great and very accommodating of 4 little ones too - fab festive trip! Will be back next year!

User

The real Santa we’ve seen him for five years were so lucky to have him so close by to us. He makes our Christmas never rushes you out, even told my girls about the history of Santa, real beard real everything I am starting to believe myself lol. Can’t wait to see him again next year. There are two so make sure you get the real one the others ones Santa’s helper,

User

The food was exceptional as always, as were the staff. It's a lovely place to go whether you're wanting to just amble around looking at the plants or looking for something a little different for the garden ... really nice place I would highly recommend it ... take time to have a coffee and 5 minutes, well worth the trip out.

User

Superb family run garden centre.

Excellent quality plants, garden accessories, gifts and friendly helpful customer service.

Their restaurant “ Belle and Joes “ serves quality homemade food with delicious deserts!

User

My parents visited today and their comments were very positive "Called today for first time and found it staffed by cheery pleasant staff. Had a good look round and had something to eat in the cafe. Definitely will be back".

User

Messaged to check Santa grotto times in the week, Greg responded quickly and very helpfully. I took my daughter to the grotto and for lunch on Friday and Santa was brilliant. We didn't feel rushed, all the staff in the cafe were friendly, helpful and really attentive and served great food and coffee.

User

Just want to say a massive thank you to you all. I brought my children in tonight to see Santa after having a chat with Greg. After being informed about my sons being autistic and don’t manage well with queues, I was advised by Greg to pop in tonight (Monday) as it wouldn’t be as busy as the weekend. The lovely staff kept an eye on us while we browsed around waiting for the queue to go and when they saw one of my sons becoming distressed came and got us so we didn’t have to wait any more and popped us through. The kids loved Santa. And the whole experience was brilliant with minimal stress for us which we are very grateful for.

Also the whole Santa experience is amazing. The fantastic displays and the real Santa was there! We will be coming back next year! X

User

It’s the second time I’ve took my son to this winter wonderland and grotto. He really liked it both times and I loved it because it was stress free. A nice walk through the winter wonderland with time to take photos and a really nice, polite and patient Santa in a small but cosy room. He took time to speak to my son and let us take photos before giving my son his present which was very decent too. He’s had toys in the past from other grottos which were very cheap and nasty but both from here have been really good and not wasted at all. Very happy overall and will definitely come back next year

User

Had breakfast with Santa this morning and was a fantastic experience. Breakfast was delicious and hot coffee free flowing and they changed hubbies tomato for baked beans without any issues. Santa was lovely and the winter wonderland had the kids totally amazed. Even the presents were good and 3 kids happily playing with them still. Would highly recommend and will be back next year.

User

Bought some lovely plants for our garden and we had a cappuccino it was hot

User

Lovely grotto and Santa, would have been 5* except for 2 faults, the queuing system- we, like many others around us managed to get mixed up with the breakfast for Santa queue which delayed us. When we moved we were at the front of the general queue and the elf said she thought it was quiet! Needs better signage. Secondly- beautiful present from Santa but sticker left on the book which says ‘exclusively for asda’ posed many questions with a 6yr old free reader. Let’s just say Santa shops at Asda!

User

Bought my daughter to see santa a couple of weeks ago! The grotto was amazing, lots to look at and really is a winter wonderland! Santa was the best santa I've ever seen, he actually looked like the real santa, and the set up in which he was in was amazing! However we came on a Saturday and was queuing for a good hour, my daughter was getting bored and kept trying to jump over to your displays as she was waiting so long and wanted something to do, alot of other children were doing the same, queuing and children really don't go together lol. Maybe u could have people book a time slot on a weekend/ busy periods to save all the queing? I definitely would mind paying a few extra pounds to book a time slot! And we will definitely be back again!

User

The food and Drink in the Restaurant/Cafe was lovely but unfortunately the Sugar cubes in the treacle tin without Tongs is NOT HYGIENIC..Everyone else's fingers in there isn't very Appealing..otherwise you would have got a 5 star rating ..

User

Took the children to see Santa, and thought we'd arrive early so we wouldn't have to wait so long, however we queued for 1 hour 15 mins, purely because of the back log of people who booked the breakfast with Santa. So just a warning for anyone who is planning on going first thing in a morning at the weekend. And most of the queuing was done in the garden centre, not the actual grotto. By the time we got to see Santa the kids were fed up, so really disappointed at the poor organisation this year!

User

Drove miles to get here. Couldn't get through restaurant with mobility scooter.

Then couldn't sit outside as there was no cover over to stop me getting wet, as taken down.

Cannot sit inside with my dogs so have to go somewhere else #Brookfields provide indoor seating.

The food and Drink in the Restaurant/Cafe was lovely but unfortunately the Sugar cubes in the treacle tin without Tongs is NOT HYGIENIC..Everyone else's fingers in there isn't very Appealing..otherwise you would have got a 5 star rating ..

Drove miles to get here. Couldn't get through restaurant with mobility scooter.

Then couldn't sit outside as there was no cover over to stop me getting wet, as taken down.

Cannot sit inside with my dogs so have to go somewhere else #Brookfields provide indoor seating.

Bought my children to see Santa this weekend and was majorly disappointed after waiting 50 minuets to get through to the wonder land that was great but Santa was such a let down I bought my children last year to see him and that was the first time I’d been to your Santa’s grotto I was that impressed with how real Santa looked he had a real beard and made my children believe even more as I had one that was becoming a non believer at the age of 7 I wanted to stop him from not believing so this year it was your grotto all the way don’t get me wrong sant was nice polite and pleasant but he wasn’t a real looking Santa and my children noticed
