Matt’s background is mechanical engineering but he has always had a love affair with the look and feel of wood, and the smell of the woodshop brings back happy childhood memories of time spent with his dad. A turn of events in life has brought Matt back to explore this love affair with wood, resulting in the pieces he has on display.


Like any great sculptor, Matt has the ability to let the wood tell its own story, only helping it to become what it ultimately wanted to be in the first place! As such, every piece is unique…there is no plan or commercial operation here. Just Matt, his lathe in the shed

Thus it is that what you see are all original and carefully hand-made products, not false, plastic-looking stuff from a cookie-cutter fabricating factory. All the knots, colour changes and blemishes are welcomed as character which helps to make each wood piece special.

Note that, wherever possible, Matt locates wood from sources such as windfalls and storm damaged trees, recycled and reclaimed wood, and on the odd occasion where he uses felled-for-purpose logs, he selects only ethically forested products from reputable providers.
