Smart clean clever building with fantastic facilities

User

Loved the David Ross Sports Village who eponymous benefactor I was at Nottingham University with 1984 -1987 and Dave Ross as we knew him was a great bloke whom all us rugby players worked for as he cut his entrepreneurial teeth as the owner of Campus Security company KSS Security which led onto greater things when he founded Carphone Warehouse with business partner and Uppingham School friend Charles Dunston. ...thanks for everything Dave All Nottingham University students should be very grateful to you for your philanthropic efforts for the university. ....

User

I spend so much time in this building for one reason or another that it may as well be my second home. It's a fantastic facility, that is well worth the money. As a fencer, the salle is brilliant, and is definitely one of the best (if not the best) fencing salle of any university in the country. The HPZ is a great location for S&C sessions, and whilst I rarely use the fitness suite I've got no complaints. The sports staff have always been very helpful, and whenever there have been any issues they've been quickly resolved.

User

Huge thanks to Chloe, Sue and James for a brilliant Active Tone session last night. This class is really valuable particularly for people with conditions like fibromyalgia which makes accessing sport difficult and tiring. Having this half hour weekly class allows me to build my strength in a way that is achievable. Thanks!!!

User

Great facilities offering a wide range of sports activities for all.

User

Got everything you need...

User

Fantastic venue. Great facilities. Particularly appreciated the warm building and Starbucks on such a cold day.

User

Attended this for a CP event and really impressed with the facilities. Staff were really great with my son he loved it. Having a decent cafe is a bonus as compared to other venues this is what has let us down in the past. Great little cafe not overly expensive.

User

A very clean, well designed & equipped sports complex.

User

A great venue for a national event. I was there yesterday as a spectator supporting my husband compete in a national martial arts competition. I have to say this was the best venue we have been to. The spectators chairs were comfy (No small thing when you are spectating all day) the facilities such as having a nice relaxing cafe, well maintained toilets and plenty of parking all made the day there an enjoyable experience.... A highly recommended sporting facility

User

Was here as a part of a research conference. Absolutely loved the experience.

User

Seems to be a trend now for the uni to be more concerned about spending xx amount of money, rather than actually ensuring the money gives results. Unfit for purpose and unsafe gym, disregarded mistakes made in past, bring back the tent.

Update: temporary platforms are in, so changed stars to reflect that. Still not great that the building wasn't finished when they said it'd be, and the lack of transparency sucks, but problems with any new building are to be expected.

User

I'm amending my previous review as the main issues I had have been sorted out, especially the floor as platforms have now been installed.

User

A good triathlon experience.nice pool swim. Didn't think much of the speed humps on the bike but an interesting run route. Well done... see you next year.

User

We were there yesterday for a trampoline competition. Fantastic facility. Only let down was food!

Cafe was awful, no sandwiches, pasta, jacket pots or hot food apart from 3 types of meat pasty and a cheese and onion pasty and tomato soup. There was a menu on the table but there was nothing available from it. Bearing in mind that the competition was booked and there were many extra people expected over the weekend the lack of food was a huge disappointment.

This gym is an absolute nightmare.

£40 million to buy flashy equipment but skimp on proper platforms when it comes to flooring? It's not only a stupid decision on the management's part, but poses a health and safety risk for gym goers. In the past week I have seen people cutting their training short because of these floors. If I wanted a slippy floor I would have gone to the ice skating ring! The soft floors akin to those in Jubilee are what bouncy castles feel like. It also gives you a sweet sweet taste of what tearing your ligaments feel like. One would think that such mistakes wouldn't be repeated given the ludicrous amount of complaints about the Jubilee floor. Adapt to survive guys, before you become extinct or irrelevant.

All in all, get a refund on your membership.
