And we're under way! The Robin Hood Festival has got off to a great start but we are extremely busy today. If you were planning to visit this afternoon, we'd advise coming on a different day instead - we're here all week! The Visit Notts site has ideas for lots of other great places to visit today!

User

Some essential information if you are planning a visit to the Robin Hood Festival tomorrow, or over the coming week! Fingers crossed for some sunshine everyone ...🤞🏹

User

If you are hoping for a quiet walk in the forest - next week might not be the time to visit ...

User

We have a fallen birch tree blocking a bridle way in the forest. The grid reference is approximately SK624677 - we are currently dealing with it, but please be careful if you are using the forest this evening.

User

There's no show without punch ... don't boo too loudly everyone! Come and see the Sheriff trying to spoil the party each day next week when he takes on Robin Hood and his merry men at the Major Oak!

User

Looking for a great family day out next week? Bulls eye! Don't worry, we've got plenty of bows and arrows in our shop if you forget to bring your own!

User

Of course, you don't have to dress up for the Robin Hood Festival. But it's more fun if you do! Starts Monday ...

User

This time next week, we'll be launching the festival! Will the Sheriff be there to spoil the fun though?!

User

my sister had her wedding here this last weekend 28/11/15 the staff were fantastic the meal was very filling we were made to feel very welcome thank you for making my sisters wedding such a lovely day

User

My husband i i married here on 30th Aug 2013, it was magical, the most perfect day. The staff are all fabulous and so accommidating. We also visit Sherwood and the village regularly as its 1 of our favorite places in England to go as a family. It has a special place in my heart as i used to go as a child with my grandparents, Aunty and Mum. We love the festival and try to go every year, theres something for everyone from very young to the elderly. 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommended to all.

Me and my husband (eeek) got married here on 13th May 2016, and cannot speak more highly of the venue!! The place looked stunning, very clean and tidy. But my main praise goes to the staff!! The day would not have gone so perfectly without you guys being so attentive, helpful and understanding!! Things were done before I even needed to think about asking, they offered advice in the build up that I am so glad we took because it made things so easy and I did not see one miserable face from anyone, even the one's who were there from early 'til late!! You guys were a huge part of our day being so perfect, you all felt like friends who were just attending the wedding and helping out. We cannot thank you enough :)

User

It's nice walk through a lovely wood, plenty of bird life to see

User

It was an excellent family experience, seeing all the trees lit up.

User

Great venue for a wedding! The staff help you plan your wedding exactly how you want it. We all had a great time and the ceremony was lovely, it couldn't of been any more perfect :D Highly recommend to anyone who's planning their special day.

User

Great place love it ! Kids have had a blast here! Expensive but worth it

User

Great night at the Halloween Walk. Brilliant theming and actors. Thanks!

User

Loved my visit there .... just now wished we hadn’t gone in the winter

User

Wow, been bringing my family to Sherwood for years, so was looking forward to seeing the new visitor centre. How disappointed I was, yes the new building is nice but gone is the atmosphere the old one had.

Surely updating the old centre would have been a better option than demolishing many peoples memories and replacing it with an overpriced shop and cafe?

User

The new centre has virtually nothing regarding history or heritage. It's essentially a small overpriced cafe and shop. Gutted and miss the old centre even more now. The car parking has also gone up in price. 😢

User

Ok, firstly, on arriving at the new site, the car park is across the road, but we found the disabled parking at the back side of the building, great ! Then found that even with a disabled badge, it still costs you £4 to park ... Annoyed ...

Next we walked into the ground floor ... One big shop with overpriced goods, nothing of any interest. On one wall are a few (and I mean few) info points about the forest, no history, heritage, legend, myth or local interest. Downstairs to the "cafe/restaurant" ... This being a refrigerator unit with prepacked overpriced food and drink .... AND ...

That's all folks !!

So much potential completely wasted !!!

Yes it's lighter and airier than the old centre .... But, that had ...

1. A walk round heritage and nature building.

2. A restaurant that served good quality fresh food for a good price.

3. A video/learning room telling you about the forests heritage, history etc.

4. 2 shops selling a variety of goods.

5. A tourist info room for the Nottinghamshire area and beyond.

6. Toilets, whilst not the cleanest, most modern amenities (not surprising in a forest) were always serviceable, I couldn't even find them in the new place.

In short, I won't be going back in a hurry, I'll go over the road to the craft centre instead, I agree the old place needed replacing or at least bringing up to date, but this place is just souless, it's a big shop and cafe, waste of time and money.

User

Going by todays visit only. We arrived and the carpark. Was closed off which left us sat in the middle of the road for a while with no info from staff eventually they told us we would have to use the carpark near the fair.

We went to cafe for dinner were the staff serving was brilliant. How ever the the to lads that was on the till was rude. If you spend £15 in cafe or shop you get your £3 off for carpark. Are meals came to £14.98 and we wasn't given time to put drinks on top of the food which would have taken it over required amount.

There was no difference in the child dinner to the adults. My wife got 1 small boiled potatoe cut in half and less meat than my son had on his child dinner.

I visit at least 2 times a month on a Sunday for dinner sometimes more but after today never again. I would rather pay extra and go to local pub.
