Here’s a set of Carrillo Rods for a Porsche 968 engine we are building.
We have re sized the big end housing accept an uprated Clevite NASCAR race bearing as well as checking the bore for roundness.
The shell tang locator also needed to be altered to accept the uprated shell bearing.
... The reason for this modification was down to the very soft material the OEM bearing is made of and there being no other options in the aftermarket for this application.
The big end bearing is a known weak link in these engines so this modification will help to keep this track focused engine reliable.
