Congratulations to Tom Ley who flew solo for the first time yesterday. Tom is shown on the right with our CFI Paul Cronk. Well done Tom.

A shot Mark took at the end of flying yesterday.

Thanks to everybody that helped make the Bonfire and Fireworks night on Saturday a great success, and thanks too to the Model Flying Club for providing the excellent food.

It was cold at the Gliding club yesterday with a strong NE wind which only abated late in the day. Mark took these pictures of a Cu-Nim cloud in the distance, and Alpacas with their handlers who reside on a nearby farm.

Brian took this shot of Mark flying our K13 home (to the hangar end of the field) yesterday afternoon. Lovely shot Brian.

Really pleased to announce that 15 year old Finbar (Fin) Billings went solo for the first time today. Congratulations Fin :) The photo shows Fin alongside Malcolm who sent him solo.

Drainage works underway yesterday with our expert digger drivers, Billy and Paula, clearly having fun. Just try not to look at that amazing sky - the day had started with cloud and persistent rain!

A few pictures from a recent Friday night flying evening.

Mark Rushton took this picture last weekend of the oldest and youngest gliders on site. Half a century separates the Eon Baby and ASW 28.

Some of you might remember the pictures we posted of three paramotor pilots coming in for a visit during our flying week. Paul (aka Paranoob) has just posted a video log on YouTube showing the flight over to us and some video of him flying with us in our gliders later in the week. Well worth a watch and also a look at his other videos where he documents his paramotor training.

Mark took these 2 pictures during his first soaring flight in his new Glider yesterday afternoon. The first shows Eyebrook Reservoir, the second is looking towards Corby.

Mark took this picture of Rutland water whilst on a dual cross country flight with Brian on Tuesday. #gliding

The first poor weather day we’ve had this flying week but as it cleared up in the afternoon Mark Rushton got his first opportunity to fly his new ASW28

A couple of Photos Carl Ward took yesterday. The first shows sunrise at the Airfield, the second 3 of our Gliders as they were towed down the Airfield before Gliding commenced.

We had some early evening visitors on the field yesterday as we all sat down for a ‘Chilli Night’. Paul Mockford and two other paramotor pilots came to say hello. A very different form of aviation to ours but equally fun and challenging.

User

Congratulations to Carl Ward who flew solo for the first time yesterday afternoon. Well done Carl :)

15 year old Matthew Brown, who flew solo for the first time a few weeks ago, converted to our K8 late this afternoon. Not only that, he was gone for the best part of an hour, and climbed to 5500ft (unfortunately without a logger). He is shown here just after landing. Well done Matthew.

User

Yesterday was the first day of our second flying week this year (the first was in May). Here are some of the Gliders waiting for launch with Alan in the foreground in a K8.

User

Paul Green, who recently soloed for the first time, converted to our club K8 at the weekend, and to the Pirat he is seen with here, on Wednesday afternoon. Well done Paul 🙂

What an Amazing club

I have known members of Welland Gliding Club for many years but only took their suggestion of visiting early August of 2017, and I must kick myself for not doing this earlier

Friendly, helpful and just a really nice group of people, I joined the club on a plan of fixed price to solo and never looked back, Amazing Instructors with extreme patients.

Excellent training and classroom facilities with safety at the top of the agenda.

If your looking to learn how to fly or just would like the experience then please do not overlook this club and its members, they are outstanding.

Yesterday was my first solo flight and what an achievement, a memory I will cherish forever.

Simply the best available club for mastering the magic of silent flight in an affordable way

Our Air Scout troop spent the evening there today and had an amazing time. The pilots and crew were fantastic, full of enthusiasm and delight at these kids' enjoyment. And my husband managed a sneaky flight too! We will be back and probably join as a family in the spring. The bacon sarnies were gorgeous. Superb hospitality. We will be back!

User

My trial flight on Sunday was just wonderful! Friendly and welcoming people made sure I had a throughly enjoyable time. Thanks

User

I just turned up with my camera to take a few photos of the Gliders. I was welcomed with open arms. And spent the next 4 hours wandering around with my camera. Taking lots of photos. A great afternoon, and an insight into the world of gliders and their pilots.

User

Great fun to be back in the front seat after so long. Thank you to Alan B, Lisa B, Ken W, T K-T, Paul C and Mark P for your warm welcome back. Special thanks to Terry K-T for your calm instruction and congratulations to Paul Cronk for climbing to Chief Flying Instructor. And thank you to Brian for a lift home.

Fabulously friendly club and great place to learn how to truly fly "as free as a bird" and not bad bacon butties as well.
