Some big lake 30s out before spawning, i have been tractor mowing around the lakes and strimming the paths back etc the 6 days of rain we had cooled the water down but since then it has warmed up, so it was no surprise they started spawning on the big lake yesterday evening plus i did notice some crashing and tail walking on the Heron lake over the last 2 days. This week will be prime spawning weather. We have just completed a big security fencing job in one area to keep any ...wanderers out at a cost of £1200, the big lake areator system is working ok after a bit of adjustment which is good timing with the muggy hot thunder storm weather turning up next week this project has cost £3200, i collect the next batch of ten tubs of 'Lakeserve' blue lake dye on Monday which will be spread across the 3 waters to prevent an algae bloom and slow the weed growth down cost £1800, also next week we take delivery of the next 1 ton of premium elite 6mm fish feed pellets these will be available from July 1st on a first come first served basis to members only at £30/sack. All projects done for the time being we've spent way too much so time to chill and go fishing. Unfortunately the big lake male swan is terrorising all the other birds now it is supporting 6 cygnets, i have seen it kill 3 goslings so far whacking them with its wings such evil things are male swans. As some of you will of been fishing elsewhere this last few weeks it is very important when you go back to your syndicate or club water after it reopens to make sure you dry out your nets slings and mats, even better spray all of them with PAL or NETSAFE just lay your open sling on your mat then lay your nets on top and spray the lot in one go so you don't waste it. PLEASE DON'T SPREAD KHV OR SVC

Melton fishing tackle shop in Leicestershire friendly relaxed superb professional service as always, I also ordered a not in stock bigger ticket item then 2 days later it was ready to collect 👏 I worked in a tackle shop some Saturdays in 1984/85 as the shop boy then in 2000 I spent a year at Dynamite baits HQ on the sales team calling 950 shops each Mon/Tues then delivering to the shops around the country on wed/Thur. You get a feel for the shops that work and sell which are a joy to visit. So well done Zac.

I have been waiting a couple of weeks to see these pics but hey the wait was worth it i think you will all agree.
I have cleared off the Justin Carter Raffle and match info for now as 30,000 had seen it and we are most grateful to everyone who has so far donated smashing raffle prizes for September, i will start plugging the raffle from mid August which will start from Sept 1st for 29 days, the 20 pair places for the fund raising match went within 36 hours and i have an extra... 10 anglers wishing to fish, is there another fishery in the valley that could stage a match for 25-30 anglers on the same weekend, Delapre or Ecton lakes comes to mind ? It has been a funny spring with the Heron lake fishing the most consistent with the little Island lake and Mill being hit and miss but one things for sure they have put weight on, i don't think adding the blue lake dye helped the angling plus the pre feed fattened them up so i am partly to blame. I know not even 50% of the Mill fish have been landed this last 9 months but plenty have been seen on occasions so tricky fishing thats a fact, while i did the odd night in May i noticed the silt areas were completely covered in caddies mayfly cocoons, the silk weed around the island was full of naturals, the canadian and eel grass was covered in jellies and snails there literally is food everywhere which is why i tried Natural zigs catching 7 fish in 7 nights hooked through the night, as a bailiff i notice patterns and one thing for sure anglers don't like fishing zigs at night, even the small percentage of guys that try them by day when the fish are swimming about switch back to fishing over bait from 8pm until 11am. Unfortunately if a lake gets too weedy by June they get banned so the moment has gone on a lot of lakes but try it where you can it works.
Time for another Facebook break for 3 weeks
So back too the fish in the photos, another big lake fish stocked by Simon in a batch of 20 fish in 2013 at 13lb and now upper 30s meet the 'BREAM' a glorious looking carp which is growing at 4lb+ a year and fingers crossed will be the Mill lakes first home grown English 40+ common in the very near future, it has the frame to be a whacker and is sure to be on many an anglers hit list which surely is in the top ten locally, we have a feeling some others from that batch on the rarely caught list might surprise us too. Bring on June 16th you can not beat a bit of river fishing tight lines WL

Big lake Dint stocky put in the lake Jan 2017' at 8lb now in May 2019' 18.14lb growing ok that batch but typically 2/3 rds of them have yet to be caught which is about right for fish grown up on naturals.

User

Former match fisherman and father to big carp catchers, John has been bagging a few recently using his special salad dressing dips hush hush wink wink.

User

Always nice to see how the Dint stockies are getting on here we have a couple of big lake babies now in there 20s.

User

A couple of crackers out the little lake, well done.

User

Had the pleasure of seeing this 45-50lb mir today from the boat what a beast, but that's not what I have to tell you after 9pm tonight 😉

User

One member who 'keeps on keeping on' as they say and catching his fair share, seen here with the sublime big linear out the Heron lake at mid 30s part of a 5 fish catch, much better pics too so well done that man.

User

Low 30 mir out the Island lake low 40 com out the big lake, it's hard going at so well done lads.

User

Island lake baby 4lb Dint stocky now 25+ certainly worth the wait like so many others.

User

Isn't it funny you don't see any catch pics of a certain fish for a few years then up it pops out the blue seen here at 29s for John, then a superb scaley one at its biggest weight for Dave. Last pic of a rig from out of the lakes please remember there is a no leaders ban atm and this old one clearly didn't drop the hook link off the leader so snapped the hook instead that tight bead certainly wouldn't come off the leader end loop, please think about fish safety incase you snap or get cut off. Fallen tree, Oak and Shallows swims closed for spawning on the Mill lake for the next few days as about 20+ fish have ago.

User

I was fortunate enough to catch another couple of big lake fish this week both 29s one an original non growing male and this one which we stocked in March 2010 at 4.8lbs a steady grower putting on 2.12lb a year but the main thing is it's still growing, so i was rather chuffed and humbled.

User

Plenty of nice fish being caught if your in the right swim at the right time presenting the right bait in the right place, Pascal the personal trainer had the Flat tail com out the Island lake at an all time high weight, well done guys, there has been signs of a small proportion of fish spawning in some shallower areas on and off, please leave these areas alone.
