Hi, my name is Jodi and I'm the newest member of the Receptionist team here at Wolds Veterinary Clinic.
I graduated from Bishop Burton College in 2016 with an Animal Behaviour and Welfare degree. I previously worked at my local pharmacy as a medicines dispenser, although my dream has always been to work in a veterinary practice. I am delighted to now be following my dream here at Wolds and love that I am learning so much along the way. I especially enjoy meeting the clients a...nd getting to know their animals with their individual characters. It is also special to be a part of such a friendly close nit team.
I'm a cat lover at heart and have two young cats Willow and Luna, who keep me busy with their mischievous antics at home. I live nearby with my partner Jack and eventually we would love to add a canine member too. I'm also crazy on pigs - I developed a passion for them whilst studying and I love everything about them ... (but I stick to visiting other peoples for now!) ¤śŖ

IŌĆÖm Sam and I am the newest Veterinary Nurse to start at Wolds Veterinary Clinic.
I qualified from Askham Bryan College in 2016 with a Foundation Degree in Veterinary Nursing, however, stayed on an extra year to complete the Batchelors Degree with Honours and graduating with a First. I am constantly trying to improve my knowledge and experience so I am currently undertaking yet more studying by working towards gaining a Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care Nursing.
I ha...ve worked in various other practices around Grimsby and North Lincolnshire, but was keen to gain more experience in nursing patients who have undergone more specialist surgery and medical procedures, so I was over the moon to be given the opportunity to work alongside the fantastic Vets and fellow Nurses at Wolds. My interests in work include inpatient care, emergency and critical care nursing and wound management.
I live locally with my boyfriend Steve and our 6 year old Whippet, Bow... (although if I had my way, IŌĆÖd have a house full of cats!) and we have just bought our first house so I currently spend most of my spare time making home improvements. When we are not working on the house, I enjoy walking the dog, seeing family and friends, going to the gym and sometimes just sitting on the sofa watching the tv with a cup of tea!

The signs of heat stroke in a dog can often go unnoticed and only become apparent when it is too late. It's always better to err on the side of caution in hot weather. Definitely a case of better to be safe than sorry...

Look at these three gorgeous little visitors we had today at Wolds Veterinary Clinic! Puppies and kittens always cause a bit of excitement amongst the staff - It's definitely one of the perks of the job being able to spend a few minutes giving them a cuddle! ¤żŚ¤śü

Grass seed season has definitely arrived and we have already seen several cases of them causing problems in dogs so far this Summer. The pointed end of a grass seed makes it very easy for it to penetrate and lodge in the skin. This can cause local pain, swelling and infection. The danger is, if left, the grass seed can migrate through the body causing infection. It then becomes extremely difficult to locate and remove. The common places for grass seeds to enter are between the toes, arm pits and groin areas and also ears and eyes. They sometimes can be inhaled into the respiratory tract too. The sooner they are removed the less chance they have of causing a problem. If you notice any changes with your pet such as head shaking, ear scratching, excess licking at specific areas, sneezing or a cough then please give us a call.

A lot of thought and consideration should go into the decision to take on any new pet, to make sure you can provide the best of care, health and well being for them. During Rabbit Awareness Week, this article highlights the specific needs of rabbits and whether a rabbit would be a suitable pet for you.

Our Vet Amanda was very chuffed meeting a 16 year old Maine Coon cat called Rupert recently. We love hearing about our patient's little quirks - Rupert insists on specifically 20 Dreamies treats being counted out for him every evening as part of his night time ritual! Here is a lovely photo Rupert's owner sent us of him surrounded by his friends ¤śŖ¤Éł¤É® (Excellent work getting them all to sit still and look at the camera!)

May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month.¤æ®ŌĆŹŌÜĢ’ĖÅ¤æ©ŌĆŹŌÜĢ’ĖÅ¤æ©ŌĆŹ¤ Äō¤ÉČ¤Éł¤É░¤ÉĆ¤ÉŠ Registered Veterinary Nurses are an integral part of any veterinary practice. Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) are highly skilled individuals who have undergone intensive training, study and examinations to achieve their qualification. They are subject to a Code of Conduct as well as Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to update and maintain clinical standards throughout their career.. On any given day, an RVN could be responsible for many of the tasks listed below! It's not a job for the faint hearted. A love of animals is paramount but RVNs also have to have empathy and compassion, patience, flexibility, a strong stomach, be calm under pressure, critical thinking, stamina, good communication skills... and the list could go on and on!
