A J Dent Butchers Description
Meat- We supply a complete range of delicious, fresh, quality meats. Including specialities such as, minted lamb chops, barbecue spare ribs, pepper steaks and chicken in garlic sauce.
Quick Meals- Chicken fillets and portions always available, cottage pies, mince and sausages, bacon and eggs. We also stock a wide range of prepared foods both ready cooked and frozen: pies- steak, mince & onion, chicken and sausage- available in individual and family size; sausage rolls and pasties; pork pies, haslet, black puddings etc. ; sliced cooked meats- ham, turkey, pork and corned beef.
Grocery- Come and have a look at our wide range of convenience products, you'll be amazed at what we stock! Everything from biscuits, cornflakes and cakes to margarine, shampoo, batteries and birthday cards! FRESH MILK DAILY.
Fresh Fruit and Vegetables- an attractive range of fresh fruit & vegetables awaits you just inside the door of our shop. Daily essentials like carrots and cauliflower, apples, oranges & bananas for snacks or lunch boxes, peppers "Wissey tomatoes" & seasonal favourites.
Newspapers & Magazines- all national daily and local papers with a range of specialist and general magazines. We can order any magazines and newspapers you would like, then just come and collect them.
Locally Baked Bread- Fresh everyday- white, wholemeal, granary & malt crunch, loaves and rolls, French sticks and cream cakes to order.
Open 7 days a week. Closed 1 - 2pm on weekdays.

Excellent, local Butchers, local shop and centre of the village community!
Customer service like no other, my mum went over to get me some calpol for my poorly little one, unfortunately they had run out. A little while late I get a knock at the door and they had very kindly gone and got me some from elsewhere which saved me taking little one out in the rain! So so grateful thank you so much!
Cant recommend this place enough! Had some steaks put away ans they were well worth the wait... aged steaks came out even better than expected! was a great way to kick off the holiday season!
Bought two sirloin steaks which were absolutely first class. A pleasure to find a place that still has the values that make shopping special. Hilgay is proving to be a lovely place to live.
Before discovering A J Dents meat emporium in Hilgay. I had to rely on rural lane ‘road kill!’ Now I have access to all the flavour of quality fresh produce, without the taste of tyre tread and gravel!
