Match Day #2 The first home game of the season saw the 1st XI start their campaign to retain the League Division 1 championship laurels. A weakened 9-man Bury CC were the visitors to the Acton Oval on a cool, overcast afternoon. Batting first Bury lost their 1st wicket to the second ball of the game and then proceeded to flog the Acton opening bowlers to all corners as they raced to 80-odd from the first 10 overs. Normality was restored as Bury lost quick wickets to subside to 150ao. A steady, circumspect reply from the Acton openers culminated in a flurry of late runs as Acton reached 151 for 1 off 27 overs. The first 20 points of 2019 safely in the bag - the season has well and truly begun. Full match details here: https://actoncricketclub.secure-club.com/ …/1st-XI-v-Bury-St…

Match Day #1. And so the 2019 season eventually got underway on Sunday 28th April. Well just. Disappointingly, persistent April showers put paid to the 1st XI home game at the Acton Oval against Mildenhall CC. The 2nd XI travelled to Elveden CC (just a stone's throw from the home of Center Parcs) for what transpired to be a close game of cricket and a somewhat entertaining spectacle. Acton amassed 211 for 4 off 40 overs with some fine knocks from the top of the order. Elveden's reply finished just 14 runs short of their target on 197 for 6 off 40 overs giving Acton a hard-earned win and a valuable 20 points.
