THE ARTIST

Alistair Hawkins was born in Rochdale, Lancashire in 1957. He was a practising Chartered Architect and now lives in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire with his Cairn Terriers Rory & Kirsty.

Alistair uses a variety of media in his artwork, although mainly paints with water-mixable oils, acrylics and watercolours. Pencil drawings are also undertaken. Pictures range from landscapes, seascapes and atmospheric railway subjects to figurative work and portraits. He also uses computer manipulation prior to painting on many subjects to create more abstract effects. The use of impasto oils and acrylics mixed with structure medium is also one of Alistair's more recently favoured techniques.


In describing his works Alistair says “I strive in my paintings to capture the atmosphere and spirit of the subject and enjoy a specific interest in depicting railway scenes, landscapes and seascapes”.


Commissions are welcomed for drawings and paintings and most subjects can be undertaken, usually from photographs. Alistair will be pleased to discuss your detailed requirements , choice of media and provide you with a quotation.
