An insight into our jobs & the things we do every day! This is a shared post from an early years blog. At Stibbard we certainly hope that you agree with the last part of the post, but if you don’t, then please speak to staff at an appropriate time. We are here to listen & help.
The real story behind the life of a nursery worker...
As well as teaching children to learn through play, we have to recognise issues in child development, liaise with speech & language, psychologists... and psychiatrists, teachers, therapists, undertake 2 year progress checks, be first aid trained, identify special or additional needs, cater for dietary and health requirements, manage complex family issues, look for signs of extremism and terrorism, safeguarding and child protections issues, drugs, alcohol & mental health issues, domestic violence, health and safety requirements, undertaking risk assessments, substances hazardous to health, infection control, food hygiene. To adhere to Ofsted, the Local Authority, Environmental Health and the Health Protection agency. We plan, observe and assess children based on their characteristics of effective learning, we see schemas in their play and plan appropriate next steps to ensure they are ready for their next stage of learning. We care for these children as if they are our own, we hug, we reassure, we praise, we celebrate their achievements. We ensure children learn to share, take turns, be kind, have excellent manners, socialise with their peers. We go the extra mile for parents wherever we can, we are there for them when they are experiencing difficulties, struggling to cope, when they feel there is no one there to help or listen.

If you are free on a Friday morning, why not go along to this lovely little music group! Singing/music is so good for the little ones to learn listening & attention skills, amongst others! Set your little ones up for a great start in life!

The nursery team said goodbye to Mel today, after 24 years of working in the nursery. We all felt very emotional as we all left the building together today. We will miss her kind & calm nature within our team but we wish her all the very best with the plans she has made for the future. Unfortunately, this photo I managed to get of Mel today has her eyes shut, but at least she had her cup of tea! Thanks to all parents who said goodbye to Mel & who joined us in the carol service at North Elmham Church with the entire All Saints community! It was lovely to see so many of you there. Have a lovely Christmas & Happy New Year. We will be open again on Thursday 3rd January 2019.

We are glad we have been able to help & thank you to everybody so far who has dropped in donations of toys & clothing to us. The nursery staff are still happy to take donations from anybody who can help. Anybody have any dinosaur toys?

Sadly this has affected one of our families. Last week their house caught fire, & we wanted to help in some way. We are going to use our nursery as a donation station for the family, so if you don’t feel that you can donate money then the family have said that clothing or toys would be greatly appreciated. The children range in ages from 3 years old (boy) to 10,11 & 16 (girls) The family would be very grateful. Bring anything you might like to donate into the nursery in Stibbard and the staff will pass it on. Thank you

This afternoons nursery children were very lucky to have taken part in a short walk to Stibbard Church to look at the poppy displays. The children listened to a short cbbc film which explains the reasons in child appropriate terms of why we wear poppies before we left, & that the soldiers helped to keep us safe. The children were impeccably behaved and they are a credit to our nursery! If you have a chance to visit Stibbard Church to see the poppies we highly recommend you go to see the moving tributes inside the Church.

Parents/Carers,
Time is running out for you to have your say on the proposal for an Early Childhood Family Service, transforming our Children’s Centres.
If the proposal goes ahead, what could be provided in the rest of the building? ... What services would you like to see provided? What do you think about the changes that are being proposed?
Everybody’s response will be taken into account, but they must be received by midnight on November 9th.
Click on the link & follow the instructions to have your say.

Some of the hard working nursery fairies 🧚🏻‍♀️ have been sprinkling some magic dust around the nursery today, to refresh the indoor & outdoor area. They’ve created lots of new spaces to enrich the children’s learning through play, ready for our topic when we return of ⭐️’Marvellous Me’. ⭐️ Autumn Term two is an ideal time, now that our new children have settled, to talk about themselves & their family & things that are important to them. The fairies created spaces that conta...in objects of familiarity from things they might see around their homes & also created a wonderful Maths area, as this has been identified as an area of learning that needed some more focussed work on, where the children will be supported to solve problems, think about numbers, recognise numbers, use mathematical language all through play opportunities that are provided. Can you spot our Maths Monkey in the photos? 🌿The outdoor area was in need of some tlc, so after a good sweep & tidy up & a reshuffle of equipment, the fairies think the children will love their garden again! 🌳 The children do go outside in all weathers, so don’t forget to provide appropriate outdoor clothing for your children. See you on Monday 29th October.

During our team meeting last night the staff team were handed some ‘well-being’ bags from the nursery management team; just to say thank you for their continued commitment to the nursery, long hours that they work & supporting every individual child in their journey throughout nursery. Many of our parents already say thank you to our staff at the end of the session/day...our staff are important to us, make them feel extra special this week! We support early years well being for staff & for the children in our nursery.
