Regional Amnesty Conference: Our Rights in Today’s Climate 23 March at 10:00 - 16:30 £7.50 This conference will explore the threats to and the connection between environmental and human rights and will focus on how activists can make a difference.
... Climate change is one of the greatest human rights challenges of our time. Extreme weather-related disasters and rising seas will destroy homes and ruin people’s ability to earn a living. The link between environmental rights and human rights is not new. In the last decades Amnesty has campaigned for justice for many environmental activists and for communities such as those affected by the oil spills in the Niger delta.

Al-Araibi, 25, has spent more than 70 days in detention after travelling to Bangkok for a honeymoon with his wife on 27 November. He was arrested on arrival after Bahrain obtained an Interpol red notice arrest warrant against him, even though Interpol policy dictates that red notices cannot be issued against refugees on behalf of the countries they fled.
