Just a little reminder about our new shop launch on the 20th October, we will be opening the doors from half six and will have lots of new kit around to play with!
Phil from backcountry uk will be going through a brief overview of some of the new kit for this season, then Al from alpine guides will be giving a fascinating talk on ski touring in the arctic circle.

A night of all things Ski Touring and Ski Mountaineering to celebrate the new Backcountry UK shop premises in Otley. Al Powell from Alpine Guides will be giving a talk on Ski Touring in the Arctic Circle with tales from Greenland and Iceland to Arctic Norway. We will also have plenty of new 2019 seasons kit around and more evenings entertainment to announce soon! We will have some nibbles and refreshments but please feel free to bring your own drinks!

For winter 2018-19 we will be stocking some Nordic Backcountry Touring Skis, Boots and Bindings again!
It's been a few years since we carried any Nordic kit as stock and the equipment has moved on.
We have NNN BC boots and bindings plus Skis and skins from Fischer and Rottefella due in Autumn.

We've updated the Quiver Killers section on our site to sell Quiver Killer inserts, mounting kits and bolt sets online.

Yesterday I bought my first full freeride setup and the service and level of knowledge Phil and Tom have is quite simply exceptional. If you want boot fitting there is no better place to go. Cheers Guys. I’ve already told loads of people if they want ski boots they simply have to come to you!

Went in today for a Touring boot fitting and 3hrs later came out having had perfect service and a great pair of boots tweaked and moulded to fit my awkward feet. Thanks Tom and Phil.

Top service fitting some ski boots round my battered climbing feet (30 years of wearing super tight rock boots = lots of bunions!). Phil fitted me in last thing before we left on a long round the World trip and he took great care and did a really thorough job resulting in the best fitting ski boots I have ever had - can't wait to get using them in the bottomless Utah powder...

These guys sorted me out with walking boots to fit my difficult feet. I now have boots that fit as they should. They really took their time making sure I got the right boots. Great pricing and I even got a free coffee! Thanks guys!

These guys go the extra mile to get everything spot on. They are experts and are the only folk in this country I would go to for ski touring equipment. Their boot fitting is awesome too!

Thanks to Phil for weaving his magic on my boots. Have recently been experiencing some severe pain on the outside of my 'old tired feet' (probably due to restriction caused by a collapsing anterior/ transverse arch). I wear Supportive Arch Footbeds but they don't offer support in that area so the answer was a 'Hot Boot Stretch' around the offending area. Only took about 15 mins to ease the pressure on my foot by stretching the boots around the area of my spreading feet and are feeling great again. Just waiting now for someone to come up with the fell walking equivalent of an E Bike.

Thank you for this morning, great book fitting and I am really really pleased with my Scarpa GEA boots, well worth the 4 hour round trip !

Thank you for my ski boot fitting yesterday, it was a fantastic experience and I know my feet will be comfortable. Also really good advice on buying skis and bindings too - I cannot recommend this shop enough.

Recently had a boot fitting and the service was superb. Phil and Tom are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Phil and Tom really know their stuff and their customer service, attention to detail (and patience!) are exceptional. I bought a full touring setup from them and had my own boots refitted and the entire package was significantly cheaper than anywhere else, including internet-only retailers. Highly recommended.

I'm not one to bother with reviews etc but.....! I have received fantastic service from Backcountry UK. As a new "telemarker" they found a solution for me and we're really flexible with the approach. On top of that I found them excellent value for money.

I recently purchased boots, ski's and bindings over a couple of visits to Backcountry UK. The knowledge and service was fantastic on both occasions. The kit was tested out last week and I am so happy, thank you so much guys!

Great after sales service as always from David and Phil. Nothing too much trouble - including keeping the shop open late. No messing about - my Salomon boots have developed a fault, and I know they'll get it sorted with no fuss.

Fantastic service, After struggling with some Altberg boots for several months, and despite having them adjusted at the factory, after 30-60 mins of any walk my feet were sore and uncomfortable.

After having them stretched and properly fitted with new footbeds fitted to my feet by the guys at Backcountry UK they're like new boots.

I'm astounded at the transformation, I was on the verge of giving up on these boots as they were so painful.

With service and knowledge like this available, I'll not go anywhere else for walking boots/shoes now.

As an IFMGA Guide and a ski touring specialist, I'm very demanding about my kit - ie the 'know it all customer from hell' for most shops...(!) Having had boots I'd bought elsewhere properly refitted by Tom and Phil at Backcountry, I was so impressed by their level of knowledge and service that I now buy all of my ski touring kit from them - which says it all really. In short, they stock a wider range of touring and freeride boots and other kit than any other shop in the Uk and know far more about it. I also popped into their new Otley shop the other day and it really is excellent!
