Anyone for honey? £3 for a 12 oz jar 😊
The first jars of this season's honey are ready! It's mostly oilseed rape which makes it a pale, soft-set honey. We're expecting some clear, runny honey later in the season but of course there are no guarantees! £3 for a 12 oz jar - any takers? xx
First 2 supers yielded just short of 40lbs of honey which is now settling prior to final filter and putting into jars, talking of which, I must get some more jars on order.
And so the 2015 honey harvest commences with the first super of oilseed rape honey retrieved.
The girls are very excited as the Oilseed Rape field behind the apiary came into flower this week. Hive three is filling the first super. Hives 1 and 2 are pulling comb in the supers ready to receive the first harvest of the year.
Checked the Apiary today and girls from all three colonies were out stretching their wings and feeding from the crocuses
