About Beds & Northants Ms Therapy Centre

The Beds & Northants MS Therapy Centre is a self-help organisation and provides professional support and therapy to people living with MS and their families.

Beds & Northants Ms Therapy Centre Description

The centre is run by a fantastic team of professional people with around forty volunteers working in the background, many of whom have MS themselves. The volunteers play a huge part in the running of the Centre on a day-to-day basis and we would not be able to operate without them. More volunteers are always very welcome.

The Management Committee (Trustees) consists of 10 people who either have MS, are carers or are close friends of people with MS, or have a relative professional experience. These people can use their personal experience and professional expertise when making decisions about the Centre.

Congratulations to the winners of the Monday Evening Virtual Quiz with Paul in first place, Alan in second and Jane in third place! Your winnings might not quite buy you that flashy car, but perhaps a drink in the pub and a pat on the back!
The prize money will be transferred to your account within the next three days. Please email fundraising@mscentrebedsandnorthants in case of any queries.
The Quiz raised £34.80 for the Centre. We had 30 players in total. A big thank yo...u to all participants (apologies to those who could not join!).
There are two Janes who participated, so please check your ID to see which of you won.
Please let us know if you enjoyed it :)

As you know, our art event scheduled for next weekend is postponed. The Coronavirus has meant that all of our fundraising events for the next few months will not take place. We are working hard to make sure that the MS Therapy Centre is still here for our members when life is back to normal. Bills still need to be paid, so please keep making your regular donations, or consider making a one-off donation now. THANK YOU SO MUCH! We have lots of ways to donate. Just Giving is a good one: https://donate.justgiving.com/donation-am ount…

I’m not used to all this sitting around and my lower back is aching. Join me in lengthening, strengthening and stretching your spine.
This stretch relieves pain and stiffness.
Steps:... 1. Before you begin, ensure your knees are directly below hips and palms beneath shoulders. Think of your body as a table, with spine straight and legs and arms strong. 2. Inhale as you lift your torso toward the ceiling. Keep moving up till you feel a mild stretch in your back. Do not leave your neck hanging. Stretch it too. 3. Gently get back to the starting position as you exhale. 4. Again inhale as you bend your torso below pushing it toward the ground to the point of mild tension. 5. Gently exhale as you revert to the starting position.
Best, Sarah xx

SUNSHINE.
It’s SPRINGTIME amid this horror - enjoy it. If you can’t go outside, open the windows and feel it on your face and breath it in.
With love & best wishes, Sarah xx

This is what the NHS Coronavirus service says about keeping healthy at home. Keep moving to stay healthy. You can use the videos on this link, or the ones that Guy and Sarah are sharing for you. And look after your mental wellbeing as well. If you'd like a chat, we can arrange it. https://www.nhs.uk/…/for-you…/move-mo re/home-workout-videos/ - Do some simple stretches and walk around. - Be kind to yourself https://www.nhs.uk/oneyou/every-mind-matt ers/... -Spend time doing things you enjoy - reading, cooking and other indoor hobbies - Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, and drink enough water - Spending time with the windows open to let in fresh air, sit and look out at the world where you can, or get out into the garden or sit on your doorstep if you can.

The Bedford Spring Half Marathon on the 16th of May has been cancelled, but the organisers have replaced this with a Virtual Run, instead.
The perfect opportunity to stay active and focused during this difficult time! There is no time limit on this, so it can be completed within government regulations/guidance.
As we are their charity partners this year, please email fundraising@mscentrebedsandnorthants .com to register for this.

Let’s get those ankles moving!
Ankle circles help with your range of movement. You can do ankle circles from either a sitting or lying position: Start by turning your ankle around slowly in circles, clockwise and anti-clockwise.
My favourite ankle movement exercise is to try drawing the alphabet in the air with your foot. I personally prefer joined up lower case letters for a smooth flow of movement.
... If you’re unable to move your feet / ankles, I still recommend giving it a go, and imagine your feet moving. The mind is a powerful tool. Stay safe everyone, Sarah x

In view of the current situation, it is with regret that the jigsaw sale today at the Centre is cancelled until further notice.
