Who else has got children coming home from University this weekend? Flossie’s coming home! (I’m singing this in my head to the tune of the England World Cup song...except she’s ACTUALLY coming home...unlike the World Cup.) Anyway as I stumbled to the youngest’s room in the middle of the night, having been turned out of my own bed by her, I wondered whether we live life in limbo until Flo’s back and only then does the house feel right, or whether we’ve found our new norm in term time, just like she has. The answer is that I don’t know. What I do know for certain though is that it’s not nice waking up to the smell of 🐹🐹🐹. Kevin and Biscuit definitely need another clean out, smelly things (I’m convinced that it’s Kevin and his dangly bits!) Have a fab Saturday! 😘😘😘 It’s the last of 3 gym competitions for us today. Today was the coldest day that we’ve had in ages. My fingers almost froze as we ran along the canal but the sun was shining and it was good to get out in the fresh air. There’s just something about a crisp Winter’s day that’s hard to beat. And a cup of tea and a piece of brownie afterwards are always welcome too! 🍵 🍰 🍵 🍰 📷 @byemmajane

A very wise person once said (about Instagram) “It’s more important to be consistent than it is to be perfect.” So here I am, showing up and being consistent despite things not being perfect! (Not that they ever are.) By the time I’d plucked up the courage to ask Phil, the decorator, to take my photo he’d left for the day. Wise move from a wise man (can you tell I’ve been to a carol service????) I’m still wearing sequins though! 😘😘😘

I thought that I’d given this dress away but then I found it (amazingly it was in my wardrobe!) Finally we made it to the ballet: 5 hours late for our original tickets but in plenty of time for our new ones 🤣🤣🤣 I’ve loved reading your comments and it seems like I’m not the only one to drop a ball now and again! Please put me out of my misery and share with me your biggest f**k up moments. I can’t be the only idiot to book tickets for an evening performance of the ballet, only to find out that they actually booked them for the matinee...(and that the matinee has been and gone). I’ve also managed to book incorrect train tickets this year, as well as losing boarding passes. I’m actually scared to book anything any more in case I bodge it up. Is it just me? : The chap at the box office was very good; the worst story he’d had was a lady who booked 10 tickets for her daughter’s 21st for the closing night of Wicked...except they were for the week before AND the show for that night was sold out 😢😢😢 : #utterlyhopeless #bodenbyme #beyondme

One from yesterday because I spectacularly managed to miss ALL the daylight today as a result of being a “gym mom” from 10am until 4pm at a gym comp in...wait for it....Dudley!!! (If you’re going to say “Dudley” out loud please say it in your best Black Country accent 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻) : Yesterday the dress code was sparkles and for once, I was remarkably under sparkled in my matt sequins. Pinched these from my friend’s feet I did...right in the middle of the school Christmas Fair and I left her standing there, serving samosas in her socks! But she’s so glam she can pull ANYTHING off! Even socks and samosas. I checked in @theofficialselfridges Birmingham today and they still have a few pairs of these @kurtgeiger boots which are all kinds of twinkly gorgeousness. The bad thing about Mr G being severely incapacitated with a horribly sprained ankle is that he’s in lots of pain, he has a purple and black foot, he can’t drive, he can’t go to work, he’s had to nick my side of the bed and he can’t exercise. The good thing is that I had a photographer for the day 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 : Rarely does Mr G comment on my clothes (he knows better than that!) but he always comments when I wear this @zara jumper...it probably reminds him of a pair of socks he on...ce had, or something. I’ve also seen @milliemackintosh wearing it in @redmagazine...I wonder if it reminds her of a pair of socks too? Hmmm. I suspect that their approach to fashion is not terribly similar. : Now on reflection, I’m a bit Blue against a Blue background 💙💙💙 and it would have been nice to pick up the camel or burgundy in the jumper...but I don’t have anything in camel or burgundy. And you know, life isn’t about perfection, it’s about getting by in the best way that you can. Taking a cup half full approach, the jeans fit (for now!) the jumper has sequins in it and I’m wearing my favourite @topshop sparkly shoes from a few years ago. I sent soooo many pairs of these out to insta peeps last year as we seemed to have a never ending supply of them in Brum. Hands up if you have these shoes ✋🏻✋🏻✋🏻 I seem to remember @thefrugality having a pair too. These are great if you do happen to have kids in tow.
