Complex of two course /carp fishing lakes

Bigwood Fisheries Description

Hi, welcome to Bigwood Fisheries on Facebook, we are a small coarse fishery approximately 5 miles east of Norwich stocking a wide variety of coarse fish in two lakes. One lake is approximately 2. 5 acres and tree lined containing Roach, Rudd, Bream, Perch, Tench, Gudgeon and there are some very large Pike and carp well into double figures. The Island lake is a smaller reed lined water and contains a well stocked head of Carp into double figures, some nice Tench and a mixed bag of Roach and Rudd. The lakes themselves are formed within a large estate lake which has been stocked over the years and the true size of the fish is yet to be seen, we have Rudd to 2lb and there have been some enormous tench seen so it really has a wonderful unknown factor.

Cracking female landed to Adam, his 22nd fish when I left with a good few doubles and the rest between 6-8lb. Also rather excitingly a “breeze block” sized carp swam past the rhododendrons. Beautiful day at the lakes.

Well it looks a different lake from the summer! Starting to look forward to some hard frosts to get the crocodiles moving.

Lovely day spent with my brother at the lakes, a sunny morning gave way to a blustery lunch and early afternoon but it calmed down in the end. Fished well through the morning and went a bit quiet through the turn in weather but the runs started again at the back of 17:00. Some smashing fish into the teens, I’ll share some of the fish below. Caught on a hair rigged bait of either sticky baits krill, Manila or bloodworm dumbbells with a mesh of marine pellets. I’ll put a picture of my simple rig below, all off the shelf nothing special. All the best Andy

Stunning morning at the lakes, after the rain anything green had gone crazy so with help from my brother we smashed through grass, reeds, trees and have made a difference. Hopefully that will ease casting and aid landing fish for you guys and girls. All the best Bigwood

One man went to mow, went to mow a jungle!! All looking a bit more respectable now after nearly six weeks away, so many carp active, fizzing everywhere chasing leaves as they hit the surface it’s absolute magic just watching them cruise past.

Great afternoon with Jacob, some lovely fish on the bank up to 10lb.

User

Thanks Graham for some pics of you’re sunday catch, carp to 13lb a couple of tench, jack pike and best of all a load of Rudd on a hook with no bait! Now that’s a mixed bag!

Sun is shining and the sun bathers are out! Unbelievable quantities of fry this season , I took a few snaps with the camera phone but they don’t do it justice.

So many carp active today, foam rising all over the lake as they are feeding hard on the bottom and loads of cruisers, 16 in one eye full at the bottom opposite peg 1 and loads of movement elsewhere. Two fish left the surface in spectacular style around peg 8 and some big guys cruising around the island.

With thanks to my mum for all her help today we got afloat and dragged and cleared a huge amount of the floating weed. Fascinating drifting about watching the shoals of silvers and the odd pike lying in ambush. Then as we were dragging the boat out two chaps rocked up and first cast caught a pike so that really made it worth while.

Thanks to Jimmy for the fantastic pictures of these lovely Bigwood tench from the island lake 🎣👍

One man went to mow went to ahh bugger the mower packed up! Still it looks a lot better and you won’t get attacked trying to get to a swim. Beautiful day at the lake today, great colour to the water and lots of fish moving about, quite a few seeds on the surface so all the more important to sink you’re line.

4 good takes , two hooked and one banked.... you could say I’m a bit rusty haha chunky little mirror

Busy day felling trees and pulling snags in the spring clean, hopefully a bit more space to throw a line out 👍 Lots of fish fizzing along the woodland bank swims 12-16 and quite a few big swirls and carp leaping clear of the water in spectacular style around the island margins. There were the usual swirls down opposite swim 1 too.

Lovely still morning at the lake, lots of fish disturbed in the margins as I walked about, I had a tub of pellets with me and there were a couple of shoals of carp at the far end which stick their heads up for the odd floating pellet, they swam right under my feet, I snapped away with the phone camera but they never do justice. The last picture was a pike rushing into a shoal of roach, the whole side of the pike breached the surface but of course I missed that. Nice to see signs of life after a long cold spell 👍🎣

Still a bit chilly at Bigwood! Ready for the big thaw.

User

Looks like the fish will be having a “snow day”
