As you can probably imagine this summer has been the most difficult summer in history for a lot of golf courses in the UK but especially for us here at Blakes. Having had the unforeseen bad lucky of our irrigation failing… twice, leaving us with little to no grass remaining on the greens as seen in picture 1.
Since the issue has been resolved and thankfully seeing the end of the hot weather our greens-staff have worked relentlessly around the clock giving everything they hav...e and as you can see below the results speak for themselves.
We are grateful to have puttable surfaces again and we will continue to push hard to get them back to the level or better than we had them before the summer began. We are striving for the best greens in Essex!
We would like to thank you for your understanding and patience. We will continue to charge reduced green fees until we feel the greens are up to a standard we believe our golfers deserve. Below are time lapsed photos of our greens from the end of August until the end of October.

Went to the Supercar Breakfast Meet and was pleasantly surprised with a great turnout of cars, a hearty breakfast and a charming host. I look forward to going again.

Matt and I had our wedding day at Blakes Golf Club on Saturday night 11/11/17 at 17.30 onwards. It was a fantastic time. The venue is stunning. The staff were friendly helpful and made the proceedings run smoothly. Thankyou. We had canapés and a finger buffet. The food was excellent and there was plenty of it. A big thankyou to Paige Angela and the team who made our day so fabulous xxx

Had our daughters wedding at Blakes last week 11th August.Lovely day/night and a Great venue staff were brilliant.We have also tried the Sunday carvery which is in our opinion the best ever.

Had a fun time. Didn’t play the course just used driving range and putting green. It’s going to be another visit for defo had the carvery was fab

Faultless from start to fin .really made mothers day special for my partner and kids .atmosphere was so relaxed but with a buzz in the air .staff esp our waitress who was so polite .accommodating and made such an effort towards my 3 year old daughter .the food was out this world . Full off flavours and so fresh and plenty off it. Lovely touch the owner coming around to introduce himself and see if all ok .cannt wait to come back .such a lovely day

Fantastic evening at Blakes last week for a Christmas night out with friends. Food was tasty and the DJ played some great songs getting everyone up in the dance floor. Fab night out and a great way to kick off Christmas!

Brad and I had our wedding day at Blakes Golf Club on Saturday 23 September 2017 at 3.30pm until 1am and it was the best day ever. We wouldn’t change a single thing. Beautiful venue with stunning views. Everything ran like clockwork on the day and we were the first event after their change in ownership. Food was amazing and all our guests had a wonderful day. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, from the smallest detail to accommodating all the dietary requirements for us and our guests. From our initial meeting with Anglea to our big day being looked after by Paige. Extra special thanks to them both for helping with the helicopter landing – all stress free and a real pleasure from start to finish. Thank you.

Went for the carvery on a birthday treat it was OK but would have been a lot better if they turned the heat on whilst we was there instead of putting it on when we was going it was a really freezing day to make things worse....

Reserved a tee time and a buggy in the morning on Saturday just gone, turned up and was told by a really helpful lady (cas?) that the lady buggy had a flat tyre, in response she offered me and my brother a free drink if we could wait half hour or our money back off the buggy, once the buggy came and got under way straight away found the fairways to be nicely maintained, greens a little slow, for the money you pay it was really worth it, overall a good day and we will be back again!

Played here for the first time today and this is a little gem. Cheap and the course was in great condition. Greens were quick and challenging. Far better than some course we have paid double for ! Customer service was fine even though they were getting ready for 500 guests for events today.

Lovely facilities and helpful staff. Use a buggy or trolley as it seemed a long tough old up and down walk. Maybe it was the heat. Stay on the fairways! The rough can be a killer and the mounds can bounce your ball way off line into something nasty. Greens still very slow as they are continued to be worked on.

Golf is Definitely value for money and I would willing pay a little extra for the golf if there were a few tree lines between fairways and additional challenges, greens are hard and no chance of stopping a ball. Could also do with a little shop, it's so much better than what I have been told about though well done 👍🏽 I'm coming back regularly

Golf course needs maintenance and staff to make it a better playing experience, shame as it used to be in good condition and a few trees would make it more interesting.

I came here for Mother's Day to eat in the restaurant, very disappointed as false advertising led me to being charged £11 for an under fives meal... I asked your chef for chicken for my children he put a leg of chicken with fat and bones on their plate, you did not have sliced chicken for children... The play area leaks when it rains, my daughter was soaked when she fell over... For the prices you charged you should have had lamb on the menu or would that have cut into your greedy profits... Most unpleasant experience, with poor service, we waited 20mins for ice cream to be served.

First visit today with family 19 of us we was really disappointed in the food, veg was cold, Yorkshires like rocks, meat was good, roast potatoes where awful & service was poor tables not cleared after starter or main meal !

I appreciate we was a large party but it was not that busy, shame as we where looking forward to it, a had lots of recommendations maybe we was just unlucky today !!

well what can I say. Staff are far from friendly. The course is in pretty poor condition. We played recently and all the greens had been hollowcored but at least half of the greens they had not filled them in so when you were putting balls were going all over the place. One of the greens had sand spread across half of the green and was just left there rather than being brushed across so it fell into the holes making it umplayable. Several of the tee boxes had so much grass on them it was like teeing up in the rough!. This course has good potential but they need a new greens team and need to learn how to look after a course properly. This is not the first time the course has been in a state as well. The bunkers have sand in them but its awful stuff that's full of stones and a lot are unplayable. Could list many more faults on this course, BEWARE when playing here

Worst service ever...total disgrace. Served one of the mains after most of the table finished.. sat over 1/2 hour before being asked for drink order

I came the week before last to look at the office you have for rent and no one has even bothered to ring me with a price! After 2 emails that you should have sent (and didn't) you now cannot be bothered to even ring me.



I certainly won't be recommending you for any type of function nor would I rent from you with such a terrible lack of customer service.
