Today the children had a peek inside their bag to find someone very special and important... Santa! They were very excited and can't wait for him to visit as they have all been very good this year! #ChristmasAtBrightHorizons

This year the children at 44 St Swithin participated in the food bank collection for Instant Neighbour. Instant Neighbour has provided emergency food parcels to individuals in serious need for over twenty years.

T'was the night before Christmas, and all through the nursery, Not a child was stirring, as the staff read a story...
Candy Floss was missing, he'd been misplaced all day. Perhaps in a cupboard, or tidied away?
... The children listened quietly, all sat together. Feeling festive and happy, despite the cold weather.
When outside of the nursery there arose such a clatter, Everyone jumped up to see what was the matter!
When what to their wondering eyes should appear - But a miniature sleigh - without any reindeer!
Instead, there was Candy Floss! So lively and quick, Helping to deliver Christmas cheer with St. Nick.
His eyes - how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
‘Floss sprang to his sleigh, to the children he whistled, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But they heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight, HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!

Candy Floss says, "Give yourself enough time to prepare and cook Christmas dinner to avoid hot fat, boiling water and sharp knife accidents that come from rushing, and keep anyone not helping with dinner out of the kitchen. Wipe up any spills quickly!" #ChristmasWithCandyFloss

The children at Cramond Day Nursery had a fantastic time developing their fine motor skills and hand eye co-ordination along with their creative skills, while making these fantastic Christingles! #ChristmasAtBrightHorizons

The children at Crewe Day Nursery and Preschool have been having fun decorating their Christmas tree and enjoyed choosing which baubles to hang on it. They all had lots of fun in Santa's grotto too!

The babies at Forest Park Day Nursery and preschool have been trying new Christmas traditions. Tsvetanka one of the Baby Care staff has a Bulgarian Christmas tradition where you make bread from scratch and place a coin in the dough and bake. Once baked you all pull a piece of the bread and whoever has the coin in there piece of bread has luck for the New Year. Tsvetanka wanted to share this tradition, so she got all the babies to help her make the break and swapped out the coin for a few raisins. The children loved helping to make the bread, and then at tea time they all pulled a bit off with one child getting the piece with raisins in!

Inside today's #ChristmasAtBrightHorizons box the children from Livingston nursery found a mirror! This prompted lots of discussion between the children with the realisation of “it's me, I'm the present!"

A huge Merry Christmas from the team at Didcot Day Nursery and Preschool, who recently held a Christmas Jumper Day whilst raising money for Bright Horizons Foundation for Children - Europe!

Twelve unique and striking totem pole sculptures have been places across the city centre in Aberdeen to celebrate the twelve days of Christmas. 44 St Swithin went to track some of these down! They found 2 turtle doves, 6 geese a laying and 10 lords a leaping!

The children at Forest Park Day Nursery and Preschool had a competition on who could come up with the best Christmas creations! Overall we had to say everyone was a winner as they created amazing decorations, and the rooms each received a certificate!

A huge well done to the team at Livingston who took part in 'Laps for Lapland' for the charity 'When you wish upon a star!' Together they raised an incredible £713!

Today, at Elsie Inglis Day Nursery and Preschool, the children read 'The Christmas Story'. After reading the story the children then looked in the #BrightHorizonsAtChristmas box and to their surprise they found a star!

The children at Kingston Day Nursery and Preschool recently performed a nativity play, and even enjoyed a visit from Santa!
